Great views over the area and lookout was open with informative information on the inside regarding its history.
Picnic table at the top. Toilet on track.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Easy walk to the look out cabin. There is a public toilet half way to the top. Fantastic view to the forest and amazing history about the place. Recommended to everyone. About an hour drive from Christchurch.

It is an absolute gem! The pictures don't even come close to doing it justice. Someone has gone to a lot of trouble to make it beautiful and hope it stays that way.
Then I thought that you must be an intelligent educated person, otherwise you wouldn't being reading this. The intellectually and physically lazy, who aren't curious will not even bother.
I have been driving past here for 20 years and wish I had discovered this gem much earlier. It is a beautiful spot for a picnic, so you need to take a backpack for a picnic.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing can see for miles over river plains and forestry the effort that the lions club have gone to to refurbish the look out with all the historical displays / information brilliant. Take a pick nick with you if the weather is fine but when the winds up don't as you will find that you will struggle to stand let alone pick nick
