Very negative experience with Fletcher. Having decided to leave NZ after 13 months in Hamilton, I contacted Fletcher with a computerized list of items, most purchased new, that we wanted to sell listing the amount paid, date and store of purchase, receipts, warranty if applicable and pictures. Fletcher Hodge came to the house to see the items and took the list with him and promised to let us know exactly how much he could pay per item. He called me a couple of days later to let me know that he would be willing to buy all listed items with the exception of 2 printers for $4,000. Albeit low, roughly 28% of what we paid for the lot new a year ago or less, we thought that it would be preferable to get this amount vs trying to sell the items via TradeMe or a place that specializes in auctions, given the time restrictions. Also at the time we mentioned to Fletcher that we thought that the refrigerator might not be available, pending confirmation from the prospective buyer; who was overseas at the time. He said that he would want to buy if available. On the day of the pickup, we told him that the refrigerator, a master bedroom set and a couple of small items had been purchased by friends and acquaintances without advertising. I stated and he agreed when he arrived to pick up the items on 22/02/2019 that the total for the items available for pickup was $2,300. Furthermore, he agreed to purchase some additional items not listed for an additional $200 for a total of $2,500. But, that is when all of a sudden he started to express concerns whether he could recoup the cost of the purchase given that he really wanted the master bedroom set that we had sold to an acquaintance a couple of days earlier... and then went on to say that he already had a buyer for the set and that he needed to talk to his mother. After 30 to 40 min and much concern on his side looking and counting the various items over and over again, I finally confronted him to make a decision, at which point he stated that he could only pay $1,500 a 40% lower price then agreed upon an hour earlier. I have copies of the 4 pages of various items where he wrote the amount he was willing to pay that totaled $2,300. I feel that Fletcher knew we had no other option given that we had to vacate the home soon thereafter and move to a hotel. Fletcher appeared to be a reasonable person and straight forward but his actions at the end proved me wrong. Unfortunately, I had no plan B, and Fletcher appeared to capitalize on that. The single worse experience in 13 months in this great and wonderful country.
