Thanks for stopping by and visiting us at Flying Nun Records. Over the past forty years, the record label has released hundreds of alternative and underground Aotearoa New Zealand music artists, bands, albums, records, EPs, singles and videos. Flying Nun originally started in the South Island, championing what later became known as the 'Dunedin Sound'. These days, we continue to release new local artists and bands, as well as reissuing albums from the catalog. We have a record store located in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, which sells vinyl LPs, records, CDs, band t-shirts, merchandise, cassettes and other stuff. The shop stocks both our record label releases, as well as a curated selection of interesting other music. We are also active with our news and blog. Occasionally, Flying Nun puts on live music events and gigs. Take a look around!

Awesome days - now that a store has hit the Welly streets it's awesome - Due to Lockdowns & life I've not had a chance to pop instore, but have purchased a few records lately & have had the best experience each time - well communicated, high quality records & delivery was a breeze - would recommend Flying Nun to anyone & everyone. Can't wait to actually get instore to browse through the music - much much more fun than flicking through a computer screen :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Friendly, fast and they know their stuff. The only problem is sticking to your budget! You can't claim to be a kiwi unless you have at least one old Flying Nun t-shirt in your drawers. (Also great when putting together insurance quotes for vinyl.)

There always seems to be some rare gems to reward the persistent. Pricing is on par or better than some of the bigger players in town. The staff are really nice, well informed music fans who really seem to enjoy their work. Highly recommended.
