Formosa Golf Club - Formosa Golf Club 110 Jack Lachlan Drive

This golf course use to be one of the best in the country (held NZ Open and designed by Bob Charles) and I have always enjoyed playing it. However over time the course has deteriorated due to lack of investment in the course and the club being unable to maintain enough members to keep it in prime condition. The course is a very good challenge with 4 tee boxes and amazing views especially on the back 9. Its a shame this has happened to the course, though hopefully over time the course maybe brought back to a better standard. For the price its still a great course to enjoy the views and the quietness of being out in the country. You can easily get on for a round anytime.

Here I am sitting in bed at midnight unable to sleep because of noise, I have contacted reception about this yet it continues. I also had a meal here earlier in the evening and my steak was rare when it was supposed to be medium rare and as tough as old gunboats, this was deducted from the bill. Other than this the place is beautiful, room is very impressive and clean

What a disappointment! Beautiful views from the restaurant but the food was terrible. The lunch menu was basically a bar menu. Lots of deep fried options and served with wilted sad looking salad. Will not be returning.

Course is good, but still no water in the ball washers. Always a delay for our member discount cards. Excellent views though, and the course is really improving week on week.

Enjoyed our stay in one of the villas. Beautiful big bathroom- the shower was huge! Clean and tidy, couldn't fault them. Loved the view out to Rangitoto too.

Not happy with the way they handle the most recent birthday function I had this month. Food service is very poorly done, the attendant assigned on the cash bar is very inexperienced. Doesn't know how to open a beer bottle which is one the examples, also the buffet dinner was not managed properly by the assigned team. Audio and Visual system is too much pricey and not much freedom to get other audio and visual vendor. Overall there were way too many surprised and unexplained charges that were thrown in our bill.

Played at Formosa on 15th April. Have played here many times before when it was going thru difficulty times. The layout is indeed great but the course marshalling very poor. It was so slow and frustrating that we gave up after just 6 holes. Took nearly 2 hours!!. At least the pro shop gave me a voucher to come back and play again.

Enjoy my time there. Great RnR retreat. Food was great. Hot as well. I saw the reviews that it wasn't a good food experience. So we decided the next 3 nights we will eat here. Our accommodation was deluxe twin villa with 15% off , $20 daily credit & $25 breakfast per head so came about $238 per night a $150 bond beforehand if no damages. Nicole was very helpful in getting the best deal I booked deluxe villa but needed a extra bed & she suggest twin deluxe villa with no extra charge. The staff on arrival was Fantastic keeping it contactless but also very Helpful, friendly Hosts. Our room phone didn't work so we used our phones for any room service. The 2x double beds are like 2x queen beds. Plenty of room. The villa #4 itself was awesome. Height and width of place was huge. Bathroom took 1 half of villa very modern & spacious. One lil thing was air con. Looks out of date. But it's still working why change it ? 1st night on the menu which says level 3 menu. we ordered supreme chicken,cheese burger,lamb ribs,steak medium rare, banoffee pie, chocolate cake. Steak looks good medium rare & hot going to warm good enough to set then eat. Size was small but thick. Maybe 250g but good portion. Supreme chicken was authentic Asian. My partner said it took her back when she little. Must be a southern style dish. Cause she's from there. Lamb ribs (lamb flaps)was ? had raw veges & dipping sauce. Complimented each other. Ribs Well Marinated taste great that I ordered 2x the next day. Suggestion slow oven bake. So it falls off the bone. 2 desserts you can taste the individual flavors & the crust was crumbling. The cheese burger. The Pattie needed more time. Ate it anyway cause it tastes Great. There's breakfast & other items which I pic below they all well portioned & enjoyable to eat. Coffee was on point also. Partner had latte with splash of caramel shot. I had the regular latte. Hope this helps someone looking for a quick getaway around Auckland. Since boarders are close for travel.
