★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good spot to get a glimpse of the glacier, Fox Glacier from the ground level on a clear day. We were here for 3 days and 2 out of 3 days it was cloudy. Keep trying until you see it! It is worth the effort, although I would still recommend the Helicopter Flight with the Glacier Landing for the ultimate glacier experience

I especially enjoyed the “locator” that you could look through to identify the surrounding peaks, etc.
Best to visit here on a clear day and take a telephoto lens or camera.
I got some great shots with my iPhone, though!
There are picnic tables here and it’s a relaxing and scenic spot to have lunch or a snack.
Very short walk from the parking area to the viewing area, also

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ BE AWARE: as of March 2022, the cool device on a pedestal that helps you figure out what you’re looking at is gone, unfortunately. The pedestal is still there, but there’s nothing on it.
Really pretty lookout, especially if you have a telephoto lens! The glacier is pretty far away, so it won’t look super dramatic in pictures if you’re just using a phone camera or basic point-and-shoot. Still, it’s a good place to get a view of the whole thing without mountains in the way.
Be aware that some of the road to get here is dirt/gravel rather than paved. It’s a relatively short stretch and shouldn’t be a big deal unless you have a pristine car that you want to keep that way.
