About Foxton Beach Surf Club

About Foxton Beach

Foxton Beach is located close to the small settlement of Foxton, near Palmerston North.

It’s a great surfing beach, has a range of walkways, and the Manawatu Estuary is a famous bird sanctuary close to the beach. An elevated carpark overlooks the ocean beach - a great place to watch the sea and the sights or enjoy an awesome west coast sunset.

Kilometres of hard west coast iron sand makes this the perfect playground for kite sports and blow carting.

You can drive at low tide to the Manawatu River estuary, a favourite spot for fishing, jet skiing, sailing and pleasure boating.

Horses are allowed on the beach but must keep off the dunes. Dogs are allowed off leash on the beach outside of patrolled swimming areas and surf beach.

A bit windy but a quiet clean beach which you can drive your car onto and watch the sunset. Very beautiful.

Worth taking a trip to the beach. 10mins max from main road. Quite a large settlement. The beach goes on and on and on.

Good place to go for a swim on a hot day. There are surf lifesavers patrolling the beach. It also has flags out to show where it is safe to swim.

Public parking for foxton beach. Pulic showers on the front of the surf club and public toilet which closes afterhours. Apparently, there's no drinking station. Plenty of space and 2 direct accesses to foxton beach. Also please take CAUTION for 2WD's that the vehicle access to the beach might change depending on the weather. I've used the same access for > 5 times smoothly but in a trip, the sun was up high and the weather was so dry. I drove through without any cautions and apparently got stuck in the soft sand. It's because I thought I'd be alright because It's always been. So stay cautious.

Gorgeous day at the beach today. A good crowd and heaps of people. Took the body board but waves were soft so not anything too exciting.
