★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great options for any guest numbers with rooms ranging in size. Everything you'd expect from a Christchurch motel in this price range but Garden claims an extra star for the buffet on offer. My challenge to you, find a better buffet in Christchurch for price/quality.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 2star place if that. Too expensive for what it was. Needs updated, cleaned properly. Bathroom not cleaned properly. Dirt and grim on bottom of shower. Thin walls could hear family next door that where loud as. Kids running around. Stains on ceiling, no restaurant for food open. Weren’t told this till after we checked in. Couldn’t understand what front lady was saying. Not all the channels on sky tv were avaliable that were supposed to be(Nickelodeon) wouldn’t stay again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went here last night at the 5.30pm sitting with friends thinking we would give it another go after coming here about three years ago. Let’s just say I will NEVER be coming back here. I’m lucky I didn’t get sick to be fair. The battered fish was cold and tasted extra fishy. The hot chips were cold. The Chinese additions of the meal just tasted like mush and I could not distinguish between the fish/chicken or pork… the peanut chicken was disgusting. Then I went to the ham station and bits and pieces were sitting in scummy water and no decent portions. Probably wouldn’t have eaten it anyway due to how it looked. My glass on the table had lip marks on it???? Disgusting. The table was also dirty with water marks on it. Then the dessert……I chose a pecan tart then went to get the cream. The cream had separated so didn’t get any of that. I chose a “fresh” spoon to eat my tart. On closer inspection the spoon had a hair stuck to it. Sorry Garden restaurant but that is disgusting. I try to be very factual with my critique but last night was just horrific. Yes I know it’s not a flash, modern five star buffet but come on guys. Do better than that. Straighten up or move out. I don’t even want to give it one star but I can’t do a post without a star rating.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed one night here wouldn't be back. Reception lady was nice enough and the beds in the room really comfortable. But so bloody noisy. And quite out dated, fridge in the room noisy waking me and my daughter up during night. Woke in the morning to hearing other people and doors slamming. Disappointing to say the least

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not a good stay, room needs some maintenance on it and tv channels were limiting.
When I went to book in I was "toldI had to" pay $1per nite for bond, and she proceeded to swip my card infront of me, which she conveniently did not return to me from paying for the nites I stayed as it was put out of reach. And was told I had to sign this T&C, but said I needed to read it 1st, to which she got annoyed and waved it around.
When I asked about this 2nd and separate withdrawal for this 'apparent bond,' I asked, do I get it back at the end and her answer was yes, it disappears, waving her hand around again, like she was dropping something, and she told me this T&C contract is done by every 1,
but I stay at hotels all the time and never ever got this treatment
Asked if I could just pay in cash, and her reply was then it goes up from $1 to $100per nite
On that note, I decided this would be the 1st and last time I stay at the garden hotel, this treatment and rm condition is not for me

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place was booked for us and would not have been my first choice. We should have had 2 beds, but this was most likely an issue from the person booking than the hotel.
The front of house was lovely, but oh my god, the bed was the worse bed i have ever slept on. You could feel all the springs with little to no foam at all. My son ended up sleeping on the couch and i used all the extra blankets to try salvage an once of sanity with some sleep.
The shampoo bottle was open and mostly all used, the jug you had to climb into the bath to fill as it didn't fit in the bath room sink.
There was sufficient usb charges, laptop connections and power points in the room and the kitchen didn't open till 8.30am for breakfast? So basically was not available. We stayed in room 310.
