★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Found this track by accident coming down from Ben Lomond. Labelled the one mile track. Was not at night, so no gloworms but not surprised that there are some, there is a lot of water, moss and the sort of things glow worms like. Very attractive way to descend off the hill, we pretty much just followed the pipe work. A little bit of climbing over things though - so not for strollers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I want to chime in and say that there really are glow worms here on this forest walk! Go see them. I’ve been to Waitomo cave, and this little Avatar like forest light show only steps from Queenstown itself is still worth visiting. It takes almost no effort to get there if you’re staying in Queenstown so there’s nothing to lose. The track is in a very pretty river ravine along an old water pipe. It is not marked and has been damaged by slides so maybe be careful heading out at night if you’ve got kids or limited mobility. The site can still be accessed between the skyline bike park and the Wynyard freestyle bike area. It seems like this is an infrequently visited and completely unadvertised little gem. Enjoy. And remember you have to go at night. This is not a cave.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The track was closed and the place is hardly accessible in dsrkness. I did it anyway but it did not feel very safe. Slippery and fallen parr’s of the track.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I for one throughly enjoyed seeing the old Dam and pipe works as we walked up the track, as others have said the track is currently closed due to slips and rock falls and it would be advisable to stay away however if you are the adventurous type it is well worth the short hike. People must be awear however that you are taking your life in your own hands while on a track that is currently closed
