My friend and I were staying at the Heritage for 4 days and decided to stay in and get room service from their in house restaurant one night. We ordered: -calamari (not bad when compared to the rest of the dishes) -venison ribs entre (it tasted chewy and old like it had been frozen and the sauce tasted so tangy like a processed bottled sauce) -1/2 duck with orange and sage in polenta. This was such a dissapointent, the meat did not taste fresh, it tasted so chewy, definitely frozen/thawed. It did not contain that citrusy orangey/sage flavour they had advertised, could not believe they let it come out of the kitchen. I could not eat it. They did garnish with an ungodly amount of fresh roasted sage "chef's special" as they call it. The polenta underneath was decent but could be creamier. -The pasta of the day. My friend said she had to force it down because she was so hungry but left the cheese bits which I tasted too and had to spot out because it tasted rotten, or like cooked frozen then cooked/microwaved again kind of consistency. -Apple and ginger crumble. But honestly considering it was room service they put the ice cream in the crumble too, bit silly to not give them separately. The "chef" who runs this joint cannot be a real chef and should be ashamed of themselves. This was supposed to be fine dining and for $128 this was utter rubbish. I ended up having to eat a cup of noodles after this because I couldn't eat what they served. Please do your self a favour save your money and go out to town they're are far more decent places to dine at in Queenstown. This place certainly is not fine dining and does not give value for money. We also had breakfast here everyday for 4 days, while not terrible tasting it felt so sloppily cooked esp the tasteless mushrooms. The breakfast is certainly very basic, lots of options but all of them poorly executed so it doesn't feel like a lot of options. And if you're vegetarian or vegan your options are limited. One way of improving would be to make sure the pancakes are made fresh when someone requests similar to the eggs because that warmer does not keep it warm, offer fresh juice not the preserved bottle rubbish and serve beautifully cooked Boston beans not canned rubbish, keep fresh cut fruit separate instead of mixing together etc just small changes. Good selection of bread, cereals (although the cereals can be offered in a cannister so they taste fresher) and waitresses with tea and coffee. But I must say the staff are absolutely just so lovely and attentive. We received a drinks voucher from their bar service so on our last night we went there and ordered a lemon lime bitter (which was far too bitter) and a ginger beer (which was so flat). Whilst down there we noticed that despite it only being approx 8.20pm there were only a a handful of patrons and the place looked pretty empty. The barman was great however, very friendly polite chap. The only good thing is the really friendly staff but the cooking staff/methods have got to change - probably why the restaurant doesn't receive too many guests despite the hotel itself being busy.

Duck pate to start. 5 star. Only critique is that there was a bit too much food for a starter ......but better than not enough! Good for two people. Main - Lamb was out of this world 5 star, best Ive had. Staff were friendly and attentive. give this place a go!!

Started this delicious evening with garlic and lime king prawns. They nailed it. Taste and presentation were outstanding. Next plate was fish of the day. I'm more of a red meat eater although I opted to step outside of my comfort zone and wow Im so glad I did. The fish was succulent and moist perfectly cook and the other flavors added to the dish were outstanding with the fish. Thanks chef. The drinks and wait staff were extremely attentive and professional.

Service was good but portions were way over priced. For $19 I got what would be a starter in most places. The buffet looked decent but don't order the avocado smash its so not worth it.

Every dish we ordered was absolutely exceptional and our waiter was so friendly and hospitable. We ordered the seafood chowder, Mackenzie's salad for entre, porkbelly and zucchini risotto for mains followed by the most magnificent peanut butter ice cream cake. Great atmosphere, great service, delicious food - would 10/10 recommend dining in if staying at the gorgeous Hertiage Hotel in Queenstown. Well worth it!
