β β β β β donβt be fooled by the A rating on the front window. We ordered fried beans, dumplings a few other things and when the food came out we noticed there was a cockroach in the beans. We notified the workers (quietly as there were other people in the restaurant) and they just picked the cockroach out like it was nothing and still told us to pay for the rest of the food! I am completely disgusted and would not recommend this place to anyone.

β β β β β I decided to finally try this place out as its in a very convenient location I pass by often. Unfortunately the food was sub-par in my opinion and lacking any excitement. Its corner-dairy quality chinese food rather than resturant quality etc. The decor is also very dated and very uninviting and the service is not much better either and you only get to see this if the door is open otherwise you're left standing awkwardly on the street wondering whether they are open at all and whether you should go in as they tend to leave their door shut at times. Overall an okay experience but I wouldn't go back. The Mantou was okay.

β β β β β Dumplings were awesome. Sweet and sour pork didnβt come with any carrot, onion, pineapple etc. (only meat) but that was fine with me. Good portion sizes and reasonably priced.

β β β β β Ah well you have to try these things in the search to replace the Mercury food courts much loved Won Ton noodle soup, sadly this one is like 99.9% of the others around Auckland, the broth which is the key to a good one was the usual flavorless dish water, the wontons were acceptable but I won't be rushing back, why such a basic Chinese dish seems so hard to make is amazing as is the very low standard of most Chinese takeaways.

β β β β β Chicken fried rice and Crispy Chicken with spicy salt are very good. Batter for the crispy chicken isn't too thick. Reasonable value for money, service is good.

β β β β β I'm part chinese, and in the Philippines, we are used to cantonese food, similar to that of Hong Kong. I've been in NZ for a bit more than 2 years, and I have to say, this is so far the best tasting chinese takeaway I've tried. My barometer is the Sweet n Sour pork. And while most takeaways have too much breading and no taste, this one has hefty meat pieces and so tasty! I would go here over Flavor House any day. Also, servings are huge for the price.
