β β β β β Fascinating place to visit! The tour is definitely worth doing, very informative and interesting, plus you get to have a go at gold panning at the end. Also don't miss the self guided walk all around. A must do when in the area!

β β β β β What an awesome insight into the hard times by the gold miners, especially the Chinese. Well done. Tryed gold panning too but wasn't lucky enough to find any.

β β β β β Wonderful guided tour, beautiful scenery and the chance to take home your own gold (or buy some in the shop if you're as terrible at panning for gold as I am lol)

β β β β β Wasn't sure initially as it is in the middle of nowhere, but boy is this worth the stop and the price! The guide was super knowledgeable and friendly and the guided tour was fun. The gold panning is probably the most captivating part for kids, as any gold they find they get to keep. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful too. Will stop by here again when we come through next time!

β β β β β A great place to visit and experience gold panning. Also great to hear the guide talking about the history in the Otago regions. A must do if you are staying at Queenstown or nearby

β β β β β It's absolutely amazing how much rock and rubble that was shifted with picks and shovels, until the 1930s Sluice working, the hydraulic monitor was supplied by pipeline from a high dam . There are 2 walks available, the self guided walk 1hr and the guided walk 30minutes and then another 30minutes talk in the shade on how it it all started back in the 1860s, the guide definitely new his history. And then another 30minutes starting up the Stamper Battery and giving a short demo of the Sluice Gun in action . . So allow 1.5 hrs to do the short walk, History in the shade and the live demo of the Stamper Battery .

β β β β β Good place to visit if you drive pass Cromwell. We joined the guided tour, which gave us lots of information about nz gold mining history (a little bit bored for young kids). At the end of the tour, we had a chance to try gold mining ourselves. You may get some gold if you're lucky ?
