★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was there for a team building day. Beautiful place, with plenty of public amenities in the area (camp ground, public toilets etc).
Definitely keen to do a weekend there, that's for sure.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The DoC camping ground at Lake Kaniere is superbly suited by this lovely lake overlooked by mountains and surrounded by forests. Between Christmas and New Year it was rather busy so our neighbours were quite close. It is particularly stunning in the morning.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I arrived after dark but this is a bare- bones DoC Campsite, with toilets nearby and a water tap. All water must be boiled before use. There is a coveted set of picnic tables. The lake is only a 5 minute walk away.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really pretty spot. Great for water sports, wee jetty has 3 swings nearby. Was super busy at new year, pretty crowded, very noisy but it was new year. Facilities were ok, rubbish and recycling spots which were collected frequently, flush toilets, couple of water supplies and shelters. Camping $8 per adult, $4 for kids, under 5 free. Lots of little coves to explore, views are beautiful

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely little campsite, 2 canopies with sinks and a toilet block provided by DOC (even has soap). Lovely lake with warm water, perfect for swimming or kayaking.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great DOC camp. Nice new "kitchen" and clean toilets. The lake is so nice to dip in and the Birdlife in the morning will amaze you. Weka's arround your tent and plenty of room. Young trees, but big enough for some wind shelter. It was fairly busy (+25 vehicles) but the camp could have that. Lots of daytime visitors for the lake,. Quiet road. Nice drive from and to Hokitika.
