Annika and Zahra strongly trust the natural ability of womens bodies to grow and birth their babies, and believe this sacred process works best when left undisturbed as much as possible. They feel immensely privileged to walk beside women and families on their childbirth journey, and their midwifery hearts sing loudest when supporting them in their own space at home, but also provide care to women birthing in either of our beautiful Hamilton primary Birthing Centres, Riverridge and Waterford. They love their work and are passionate about providing positive, empowering, holistic and safe midwifery care.
Annika and Zahra work in a shared care midwifery partnership, this means you have two midwives, instead of one midwife and a back up. They plan for you to see them equally (usually alternating appointments) throughout your pregnancy so you get to know them both and they each have a good understanding of your pregnancy, as well as what you are wanting from your birth experience. They work one week on call, followed by one week off call. This gives you the benefit of midwives who have regular time off to balance work and family life, and get much needed rest.
They have a birth pool and califont available to borrow for those clients wanting a waterbirth at home. They work with women in Hamilton City and some surrounding areas.
