Hillcrest Medical Centre is a large family focused general practice.ย We share our building with a large pharmacy, Pathlab, dental practice, physiotherapy practice and medical specialists.
About Hillcrest Medical Centre
Originally from the UK, I trained in Sussex in 1990 as a registered nurse. I worked mainy in the acute medical fields including gastroenterology and neurology. In 1997 I completed midwifery training at King’s College in London and worked as a midwife until moving to New Zealand in 2003 with my large family.
Having decided to return solely to nursing, my work life since living here has been rewarding and varied - from acute emergency care, practice nursing and school nursing to sexual health, women’s health and colposcopy. I have a strong and passionate interest in women’s health and providing equitable service provision to the community. I'm proud to work with a motivated, positive and incredibly skilled, patient-centred team.
Outside of work, I enjoy meeting up with all the ex-colleagues and great friends from my varied career.

Physiotherapy practice on site. Very good staff.
Chemist is very convenient with friendly and helpful staff

โ โ โ โ โ Rang for an appointment and rudely told no bookings available for a specialised medical dive cert which only two others doctors in Hamilton doing and one is out of country. Receptionist told me go out of town and was not helpful at all.

โ โ โ โ โ Needed to see a my GP today, and I was told by reception that the nearest date I could get was the 13th of June... almost two weeks away! I get that times are harder, and I have always liked the service in the past, but two weeks to see any doctor is pretty ridiculous and I am now reconsidering staying in this clinic. I ended up having to go to Anglesea, which is a real shame.

โ โ โ โ โ Never get appointments when needed.Telephone consultations are useless and they are doing it only for making money. Doctors are good, but receptionists aren't helpful. Worse medical center in Hamilton.

โ โ โ โ โ Been with these guys on and off for over 25 years. Had many negative experiences but some good doctors too. I always turn up on time for my appointment but always have to wait at least 45 minutes past appointment time to see the doctor, assume you will be there for a couple of hours. This isn't an in/out thing. The times I've tried to make appointments this last year or so I've been told no one is available to see me, the last time I was offered an appointment 9 days later. I'm pregnant and in pain so a&e it was $90 later ?. Will probably change doctors very soon. Do not recommend to be honest. Doctors seem pretty good though.

โ โ โ โ โ The reception staff, with the possible exception of one, are not in the least neither friendly nor helpful. The doctor I saw at the practice was more worried about his status than doing his job. He treated me as if I am totally stupid. (His qualifications and mine are on the same level for the university and NZQA assessment levels). Kept giving the same prescription even though there was no improvement. He made no effort to find what possible causes were. The only people at the practice who were worth seeing were the nurses I saw.

โ โ โ โ โ Sometimes hard to make an appointment these days as Covid seems to have left a mark. Have been very well treated when walking in with an emergency . All GP' s I have seen have been good. Really love the relationship with my own GP. He even called me on his holiday when clearing emails and git me an appointment face to face the next day.
