About Hawera Aquatic Centre

The Hāwera Water Tower dominates the urban landscape and provides a central landmark and navigation point for visitors to the town. It is designated as a category one structure by the Historic Places Trust, and celebrated its 100th year in 2014.

Situated behind the South Taranaki i-SITE Visitor Centre, take about 10 minutes to climb the (somewhat strenuous - but don't let that put you off) 215 steps of the best known heritage building in Hāwera for a bird’s eye view of the region and coast.

The tower is open to climb daily (with the exception of Christmas Day) between 8.30am - 4.30pm on weekdays and 10am - 2.30pm on weekends and public holidays. Gain entry by heading into the South Taranaki i-SITE Visitor Centre which is located right beside the water tower, on High Street.

Entry Fee - Adults $2.50, Children $1.00, Family $6.00.

For more information contact the South Taranaki i-SITE Visitors Centre.

Great place for a swim outdoors in the sunshine. The outdoor pools are heated too so it's perfect for the wee ones. The hydro slide isn't that great and they don't allow you to take your small child down with you which is a pain. But great pools. Nice and clean.

Fun for the kids when the hydroslide is on. Pool temperatures are good. Three pools. Small, medium and large plus spa pool. Beautiful outdoor pools, small and large. Areas for spectating for supervising adults. A recommended visit for all seasons...

Great pool for a small town. Love the large spa. I like it when the spa was for kids too. It's big enough

I visit the Hawera aquatic centre often. It is a great place to go for both lane swimming or leisure. There is an indoor 25m pool and an outdoor 50m pool. The hydro slide opens at 12pm and is always good fun for adults and kids alike. From the top of the slide is a view of King Edward park adjacent to the Aquatic Centre. There is a spa pool for adults, a toddler pool and baby pool. A grassy area outside for family picnics. Lots of activities here from swimming lessons to Aquarobics. This is my happy place.
