β β β β β Impossible to get through the pathetic phone system. It wasn't always like this, e.g. a few years ago. Emails aren't attended to, except an automated reply that the High Commission should be phoned (not emailed) between 2-5pm, which is what I kept doing, but no response; messages aren't attended to either, in fact, one is advised not to leave voicemail. This is retrograde!

β β β β β This department does not return calls or emails. I have had one reply in 3 months. Cannot get an appointment booked for my daughter for a passport renewal.

β β β β β Address in Wellington for the embassy is:
157 Lambton Quay
NTT Building
Level 16
All went very smoothly yesterday at our appointment on 10 May 2022.
We made this appointment in November 2021.
Although we couldn't confirm the appointment ahead of time (neither by phone nor via email) we still flew down to Wellington for the appointment. Leap of faith.
All went well.
Four passport renewals and two ID applications (i.e. 6 applications in total).
We had all our original docs in one flip-file and all our copies and forms in another flip-file with all applicable forms pre-filled out.
6 self-addressed courier bags.
Cash ready.
Passport photos etc.
Alles reg = easy process.
Friendly helpful staff.
If you already have your appointment, Go!
*Make sure you follow the instructions provided via email when you got your appointment.*
Best of luck.

β β β β β Been trying for going on 3 months to get hold of these offices via email and calling everyday but no answer. Then one day quite by surprise, someone answered the phone, I was so shocked that I forgot to get his name to refer any queries too. Needless to say wrong info given and after following his instructions to get my daughter a passport, I now have to reapply for her passport and immigration have held her visa because of this. Everyday I try calling and sending numerous emails, I get nothing back. I have sent an email to the DA leader in SA explaining the problems that we are having and they have answered my call for help and will be referring this to the minister of internal affairs I think everyone should be emailing the DA minister with the same complaint. Maybe they will do something about it. If my child gets deported because of my own country's embassy being so poor in service, I am going to be very very angry.

β β β β β Being trying to get hold of the embassy for 3 days, no one answers the phone, frustrating.
I was unaware until the DHA South Africa informed that my documents were never received.
So chasing a black hole between the Embassy and DHA.
The services requested was paid for to the SA Embassy in Wellington however there was no outcome.
If only they could respond to the numerous emails that was sent through.
Very poor service ?

β β β β β 10/10 for the experience we had, very helpful staff. They were efficient and professional. Make sure, when you enter the building, you know how the lifts works, you need to know the number of the lift to get into that takes you to the correct floor, not every lift goes to the SA Embassy's Floor. Embassy Located on the 7th Floor, Masks are provided by the door, you need to wear a mask to be allowed in. Make sure you are on time, make sure all you paperwork is in order, everything stamped by the Justice of Peace. it took us about 45 minutes for completion. You can walk there from town, its not to far. Friendliness & a Smile goes a long way. ** GO BOKKE **

β β β β β I am sorry to have to review this poorly.
The receptionist and lady who helped me, explaining the fingerprint form were absolutely lovely. They were running a little behind, so lady apologized to me. No worries, Iβm not in a hurry.
Thatβs when it started to go downhill. Another South African man, presumably an official (who did not identify himself) started rudely questioning me on why I was applying so early for renewal of my passport, and that it was likely to be rejected. I told him that I was not going to withdraw my application because of this, especially as I had booked this appointment in July last year, and processing time for a new passport is 6-12 months!
He continued to talk at me in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner as if he wanted the last word. He then mumbled something and proceeded to take my fingerprints in a rough manner, as if it was a waste of his time. Unfortunately I did not get his name. I have never been spoken to so rudely in recent memory and I am appalled at my treatment from this man. He definitely needs to improve his attitude and his poor communication skills.
