Really quick service when you are in need of a van, the only bad thing is that you have to top up fuel afterwards and petrols are a bit far.

Great service, really friendly staff who happily helped me to re-attach my tow bar as well as getting the trailer attached. Super helpful.

Work related visit so not much contact. That being said the front office staff were well versed in their job. Exceptionally happy young lady who never once stopped smiling helped me with a vehicle return. Front line staff are the reason some people keep coming back and this Company is no exception. Hope she is valued by the Company and not just a number.

For 10 years now, I've used Hireace Onehunga. Moving houses and road trips, they've always gone above trying too accommodate my needs. The cars, vans or trucks are good value, the sound system is always loud with all the radio channels, great for the road trips,maintained well and clean. Great, affordable prices too, the best in town!!!! Sharnie is the Best!!! Love her work, great customer service, knows her products and can think fast on her feet. To date my experiences with Hireace Onehunga have been very positive.. So much so they have become my “Go To” place for any vehicle or trailer hire. In particular the branch manager has been very helpful, courteous and problem solving.. Why would one go anywhere else…

BEWARE – YOU ARE NOT FULLY COVERED BY INSURANCE. I HAD TO COUGH UP OVER 1400 NZD. Firstly, this review would not be written if I hadn’t had a minor prang in an Atlas rental truck. This is not in dispute and I was at fault. I managed to punch a single hole in a side panel and scratch the signage (photos attached). Bear in mind, this is on a truck registered in 2004, covered in scratches and with a front bumper hanging off when I turned up to collect it. You can sign up for the 40 dollar ‘platinum’ insurance but this doesn’t cover you for the following from their own paperwork: ‘Vehicle rollover, water damage due to a submersion, overhead/roof (anything above windscreen/windows line) and underbody damage is not covered by any insurance’. This means if any of these things happen you will have to meet the cost of repairs yourself. I questioned what was covered with an office administrator (who deals with insurance) after the incident and in her own words she advised me that: ‘We have contracted out of cover for overhead and underbody damage, water damage due to submersion and vehicle roll over’ and ‘We do not have cover for damage above the height of the windscreen’. This means you are driving around in a vehicle that is not fully covered by insurance. When I asked the manager of the branch to give me a timeframe for the repair, they couldn’t even guess at one. They promised to call me back that day and didn’t. They even told me a story about someone else who clipped the corner of a truck and had to pay 3000NZD as if that was somehow going to help. When they emailed later, they addressed me by my surname, not even bothering to check the details they had. As if this wasn’t bad enough, their sign wasn’t really damaged beyond repair and was already covered in scratches - you can see this for yourself from the photos. They just chose to insist on a new one, which they handle in-house apparently, so that there can be no formal invoice for the actual item. Instead I was offered a photograph with figures written on it and a cut-and-paste description and total. When it came to the damaged side-panel, Challenge Panelbeaters in Onehunga charged 747 NZD to stick a plate over the hole. I have included photos of what 1414.50 NZD (that includes a further 600+ NZD for a new sign) worth of repairs looks like. Customer service at the branch is non-existent. The work undertaken was a clear and obvious example of gouging. The whole experience is one you should avoid by never renting from these guys.

Prices are decent also there's a $250 bond the website didn't bother to inform me of, luckily they had my card details on file since I didn't bother to bring any extra money with me costing me 1000 and some change. After signing on the dotted line they drive out the oldest bloody truck in the lot, tires looking like they had seen better days, the folding doors left side roller jammed, reverse camera screen belongs in the year 1999 ? anyway it made the first leg of the trip and fingers crossed it makes it back. ***(EDIT*) Returned from the second leg slowly but without problems, Thanks Sharnie Ah Kam for allowing me extra time to top the diesel up and for the 15% discount. Really helped change my original rating from a 3 star to a 4. Cheers.
