★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As a massive Tolkien fan, Hobbiton was everything I hoped it would be. A beautifully maintained movie set, surrounded by some of the best views NZ has to offer. Each Hobbit hole looked so perfectly settled into the landscape, and all the gardens were in bloom (and buzzing with life) - it felt like stepping into a real village rather than a movie set. Our tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable about the source material, taking the time to point out the interesting parts and sharing fun facts about the filming and production of the site. There was also plenty of time given to wander around at each spot to get photos or appreciate the finer details that were put into the set. Enjoying a cold drink in the Green Dragon Inn was a perfect way to end the tour and I hope to have a chance to visit again someday. Highly recommended to anyone who is a fan of the books, movies or simply wants to appreciate the beauty of NZ’s landscape.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Whether you like the movies, books or neither, this is a must see! It is so interesting to get an insight into how the movie was made and just how intricate every detail is. My wife and I had a fantastic time and Keith, our guide, was perfect in explaining the many scenes and sharing some laughs on the way too.
I would definitely recommend this for anyone, the complimentary drink at The Green Dragon is something to look forward to and the views and landscapes are stunning! 10/10 from us through and through.

Wonderful experience, tour guides Sonny and Paul were entertaining and engaging both shared interesting, humorous stories and insites about the film, location and actors. The pace of the tour was just right loads of photo opportunities and minimal pressure to keep moving, they keep everything working perfectly. Some people on our tour had been 6 or 7 times already and were clear fans of the film and books. Others knew nothing about the books and had not seen the films, it didn't matter, everyone had a great experience its great for all ages, newbies and fanatics.
The banquet was all it said it would be, wholesome hobbit food, cooked well with pleanty of it. Night time lights were spectacular, nice clear crisp night with little wind.
