Nice playground across the road for the kids.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely safe place to play or sit on the sandy beach. The rhythmic sound of the waves of the surf of a swell is very therapeutic to have as background sound.
This place can be chilly in strong winds. If the strong wind is from the south one needs to be aware of the potential for sand in their eyes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The location is the southernmost point of Wellington. It is a small local beach with very strong winds and cold water compared to other Wellington beaches. The bus NO1 is the last station.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Its always worth a trip to Island Bay, a stones throw from the Wellington city CBD. The local Art Galleries are vibrant and well worth visiting. The key attractions to Island Bay are its unique beaches and assortment of moored small fishing boats. Added to this is the Bays Italian history of its fishing families. The Bay itself surrounds the Island which is a few hundred metres off shore. The beaches and walkways are safe and easy to follow.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful spot to be enjoyed with a cold drink or a picnic. Lots of surf and sand to enjoy. Great facilities nearby. Local cafes and friendly helpful people. Nice all year round and plenty of sunshine here. Unique and stylish walkways that are accessible to all. The South Island can be easily seen on a clear day. The beach can be very windy and cool in the winter. On a clear sunny day this beach is very majestic.
