★ ★ ★ ★ ★ J's Cafe in Westport, NZ is awesome for breakfast, lunch, a snack, coffee etc.
Open from 7.30 am until 4pm.
Went there again this morning at 8am for breakfast, before coming back home to Christchurch and that man there is so helpful, even with me wanting just part of the big breakfast, bacon and tomatoes on toasted bread. So accommodating for my small appetite, so early in the morning.
My granddaughter went to Westport in March with me and after eating at a lot of cafes in Westport over the years, I have decided this is the cafe I will continue to eat at. Give it a try people.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was such a cold day today, and after a tough week, I decided it was time for my regular comfort treat. I thought I'd ask the staff if I could order a takeaway to take home and reheat. Sitting outside at a table in the cold wasn't a pleasant option. The lady on the counter said I could have a takeaway but why, when I could sit inside with my canine baby. I was surprised and delighted with the offer, but concerned I would be abused (as I had been by a man a few weeks ago for taking Zahra inside to place my order) he said some really disgusting things to me which the staff heard. She assured me I wouldn't be abused and explained that another lady brought her dog into their cafe as well. We sat in a booth and here are the images...For those who might complain I don't mind admitting that Zahra is probably cleaner than I am, and I am not dirty. I can't speak more highly of the staff who have always been so kind, caring, and welcoming, in a town that is not always so friendly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stopped here as our first proper feed after finishing the Old Ghost Road and oh my, was it worth it, we both had the Eggs Bene and it was prob the best we've had, my partner even passed on her compliments to the ladies cooking this exceptional plate of yumminess, add great service at the counter, exactly what a café should be like. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such lovely service! I had the Works Benne for 20.00. The eggs were perfectly cooked, not see through and not over done. The bacon was crunchy and everything else was perfect! The French toast was wonderful, although my brother had ordered without cream cheese and I thought this would have brung such a lovely texture and flavour to the dish! Otherwise it was another 10 out of 10! Coffee beans were wonderful as well!
