β β β β β Took my 3 year old Smeg microwave in and asked them to tell me whether it would be 'economic to repair' which I assumed would take a matter of minutes as it wasn't heating. I chased them after a week of not hearing and was told it would need a bunch of parts costing over $500 (the microwave was $300). I was then charged $75 for a 'large appliance assessment'. I queried the fee, given I was not advised there would be a fee, and never heard back from them. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't buy Smeg again.
Update 1year later: And thanks for the generic response (which you have given every other negative review), it only took a year to get a response. Carry on.

β β β β β Tharcolds, or Jones Services, same company apparently came out and looked at my dishwasher and my oven. The repair man called me in advance to arrange a time, give or take a few minutes he was about right. I found them very informative, professional and helpful. The repair man explained very clearly the problems and what was needed. I asked for a quote for the oven as it is getting a bit old and was sent one in a day or so. Both are now working great. I found the whole process simple and easy.

β β β β β Professional service, arrived and looked at our LG fridge freezer , gave a good quote for repair and parts, once parts arrived the technician arrived and replaced parts and fridge freezer now working perfectly. Friendly, professional and fast service, I would highly recommend them.

β β β β β Logged a repair job with the manufacturer over the weekend and Jones Services contacted me on Monday and arranged someone to come and repair on Wednesday. Called prior to double check the model and came prepared with the replacement part. Quick fix and professional engagement.

I explained to Jones that tenant had waited a week to tell me about this and she had been stove top cooking since. Jones popped around quick smart, replaced the thermostat - thank you for your fast efficient service and I have a happy tenant. Jones will be my go-to repairer from now on

β β β β β Came out to check washing machine and said they couldn't fix it at home (the drum had split) so would need to take it in to workshop. Manufacturer amazingly agreed to cover costs as machine was still relatively new. Took them a week to pick up the machine as 'they were waiting on the part'. Once they picked it up, I hadn't heard anything for a week so rang to chase up repairs and was told it was being done that day and they just had to do test runs but that the engineer would call that afternoon. Never heard anything so rang the next day and was given the same story. Engineer finally called the next day and booked delivery for the following day and that the delivery team would call in the morning to give ETA. Still hadn't heard by 3pm so rang them to complain and they magically delivered 5 mins later (we live really nearby). They installed it and left (after crashing in to a tree in my driveway first though). I did a couple of washes and the machine was making a really loud noise as if it was going to explode. Took them a week to arrange someone to come look at it and the reason they tried to give for the noise was because the floor it was on was hollow... have lived in this house for over a year and that has never been an issue previously! All the guy kept talking about was who would pay for any further work (despite this being an issue from them taking the machine away to repair it). The noise continued so I ended up ringing the manufacturer as Jones had been so useless. The manufacturer sent their own engineer out and the issue for the noise... Jones had not screwed the front panel on properly when putting the machine back together after the drum repair. They had left 2 screws out. Machine all fixed and working fine now thanks to the manufacturer. Jones were happy to take on the $1000 repair quickly enough but couldn't care once the work had been agreed to. Never again.

The serviceman provided realistic and practical advice about what we should look for going forward - because nothing lasts for ever, but this time at least Jones effected life after Fridge death.

β β β β β My oven needed a new liner and the tech was great at communicating when he would visit. Unfortunately the repair could not be completed in my home so the tech made a plan to order the new liner and arrange a new visit when it was ready to minimise the effect on us - great service.
My oven now works great.
