★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome. Free, so cloce to town, simply a must do. Stunning views and didn't even need to leave the car park to see a big ol' seal!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ go see! always a seal on the rocks, dolphins along the coast, or other animals to enjoy. I would call it an easy walk, just a bit of a hill at the start (as warm up) would recommend this to get a great understanding of the formations of this coast. we did it in the morning, but I imagine an early morning would even give great sunrises. carpark looked safe and reasonable clean. for exploring the rock formations, I would recommend low tide.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quite steep initially but will paved. Changes to dirt/ grass At the top. Lots of lookouts along the way to view the rugged coastline and hopefully spot some seals. I didn't this time. Plenty of parking and signage

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We loved this hike along the coast and beach!
Such amazing views of the ocean from above. Then, walking down to the beach and along the beach, we saw multiple seal colonies and even a good number of seal pups!
We kept a safe distance, but we were able to walk very close to many of them to get good photos.
We took over two hours to do the entire walk, mostly on the rocky beach, but we were stopping a bit for photos and to relax. I believe that the entire walkway could be done in an hour or so, if you are in a hurry

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really nice quiet walk. We walked up over the top from the Seal Colony car park, then down to the beach at Whalers point to follow the rocks back to the car park. This gives you a better look at the bigger colony and is a shorter walk than doing the full loop.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well managed place but it would be nice if there was some shelter for resting. Tracks are marked well and finding a car can be challenging. This is a popular spot to park your vehicle and for your hike. This snow one free activity you can do in Kaikoura.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Take a right at the carpark, down the stairs and around the coastline to see the Seal Colony. Once you hit the white stone path, then you know you are on the right track. Beautiful spot for photos, the rocks look out of this world and the colours are amazing. There is also the lookout track, which is a lot longer

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A great free activity to see a decent length of the coast and some seals up close. We walked the beach / low track first and then back along the top because we started quite late in the afternoon and this was the best option for us. It's a leisurely walk with stairs. A good walk with great views totally worth it.
