★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lovely wee bookstore with heaps of character. Inside the Paekakariki train station. Very friendly chaps who run it will talk your ear off and are very helpful and knowledgeable about books. No eftpos though so bring cash.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I love this bookshop, Based at the quintessential Paekakariki Railway Station stop I came across it when I stayed with a dear friend in Paekok as it is affectionately known. Kakariki book shop has an extensive array of books collected by the shops owner aka 'Earl of Seacliffe' , O'Leary hails from Orakei in Auckland but many know him for his fantabulous books, poems, and live performances, and more recently 'Livin in a Auckland' Cd. O'learys' prolific works span the shelves of Kakariki Book store, many only available on request. The bookshop is in itself a gem many a local spending time to peruse and buy from the titles on offer. Check it out when in Wellington it is a must see and only a 15-20minute train ride out of the city. Arohanui
