★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Disappointing that when I called to enquire about booking our sick dog in to be seen the receptionist asked where we were from (I mentioned we were on holiday at Matapouri) when I said we were on holiday from Auckland there was a very noticeable pause, she went away and talked to someone and then returned to say they were fully booked. Discrimination at it's finest is happening here. Sure we are from Auckland, we are also fully vaccinated, and since Auckland'ers are well over 90+% vaccinated you would think we should be doing the discriminating by boycotting Northland and not spending our money here - but we aren't that shallow minded. Found another vet, but certainly don't recommend this one.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Probably 2 years ago I took my cat there as I believed that he was suffering from kidney failure (had done a lot of research into his symptoms) and specifically asked the vet to test him for kidney failure. She gave his stomach a little squeeze, and said he was fine, which I did not believe. 6 weeks later I took him in, to a different vet. He was lethargic, was barely eating, and had lost almost 2kgs over that period. The second vet straight away agreed that something was definitely wrong, and ran tests. He had early stage 4 kidney failure. We were given some meds for him to take, but was told if he didn't take to them, then he would have to be put down. We had to put him down just over a week later. If the first vet had have run the tests that I requested, and was happy to pay for he might have lived a bit longer, and not suffered so much in his last weeks. Very disappointing service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very disappointed that I was not advised of vaccine passport requirements when I was called twice to rebook this appt. On arrival I was asked to go outside and wait with a very stressed out cat in the hot sun with dogs and trucks going past. When I saw my cat was so stressed she was panting, I just took her home. A lot of Northlanders refuse to be coerced into a vaccine trial, particularly when we don't have covid in the North. Get a better system and advise customers prior to arrival. I will not return to this vet clinic.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First timer to any vet. Great communication. Service is good. Reception excellent. Very understanding, professional and makes you feel comfortable. Reasonably priced visit. Doctor was very informative and helpful (as a first time pet owner). Made me feel I could go ring for advice anytime and I'm happy to go back when need to. Thank you.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As always - excellent service and value from Kamo Vets. These guys put your pet’s well-being first - selling services and other stuff comes somewhere else on their priorities (unlike other vets). We stick with them because we know our pet will get genuine care without the hard-sell.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First time going here. Rung them and they accepted my girl. Very respectful and nice people. My dog needed to be seen asap and they seen her same day… Reasonable prices as well… my girl was seen and given medication. They done a whole body check etc to make sure it wasn’t something else. Very happy. Will come back next time. Thank you Kamo Vets. ?
