Karori Kids is a Registered Charity with a vision to provide quality early childhood education and care within a family environment in the heart of the Karori community. We are a full-time centre in Wellington, licensed for 24 children and are part of the Ministry of Education 20 hours ECE Scheme.

Our Thunderbirds Pre-School Programme for four year-olds operates Monday to Thursday 2:30-3:00pm. The children work in small groups with a teacher, to further develop their basic literacy and numeracy skills, and expand their general knowledge, introducing them to the wider world through fun projects and encouraging them to share and expand on what they already know. We go on group school visits prior to their individual school visits, and foster close relationships with nearby local primary schools, which greatly enhance the transition to school.
We also offer a Three Year Old Programme that operates on Monday to Thursday from 2:30pm-3:00pm, which offers children valuable social interaction, encouraging them to listen, take turns, and take part in discussions. Different resources are used to contribute to the children’s learning, including engaging with the local community, inviting different organisations to speak to the children e.g. SPCA and the Police, and supervised internet access e.g. watching the NASA space shuttle launch.

We really love the 'Thunderbird' Program which is helping our eldest child to get ready for Primary School next year. Allison and the team are wonderful, thank you.

Staff are warm and trustworthy. Activities are worthwhile including the outings (especially Tumbling Tots) which my child enjoys. I also find the inclusion of meals and snacks as a timesaver for our daily morning prep.
Great to be part of this community.

The centre has a great child-teacher ratio, heaps of outdoor space, and is constantly coming up with fun new ways to play with and educate the kids.

My son loves all the teachers and we love the homely environment and the small roll, plus it is location is fabulously convenient given we drop off our daughter at Karori Normal School at the same time.

The centre is well equipped for 2-5year olds & they set the children up for school so well with their thunderbirds programme. My children have always been super happy to go & I feel soo confident that my children are in really good hands! The children are fed hot meals every day, you don’t have to faff with pack lunches! Highly recommend!

He's a shy boy but it doesn't take long for him to get used to and enjoy the place thanks to the support, kindness and friendliness from the teachers. We love to see him excited to go to school everyday. He also loves the daily cooked meals by the school. As parents, it's great to see him happy and learn something new at school while paying a reasonable fees (FYI, we're actually saving big bucks by moving here)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The teachers at Karori Kids are a very strong unit and are genuinely loving towards the kids. The teacher:child ratio of 1:4 is great in terms of the special attention the kids receive. My 2 daughters have been really well setup to start school because of the transition to school programme. My 2 year old boy goes there now. The kids love the massive outdoor play environments.
