This small unpretentious café has a secret weapon. Outstanding service. In the small opportunities for interaction during my purchase of a small espresso I could not have been more impressed by the authenticity and attentiveness from the young barista. The coffee was great too.

New Indonesian cafe with coffee from Indonesia and authentic desserts and snacks. The coffee has a rich flavour that Wellingtonians will enjoy. I enjoyed my coconut slice, it’s very filling and not overly sweet. Many of the staff are from Indonesia and are super friendly. On my second visit I tried the chicken Gresik. This is dish is delicious and well worth trying. It seems that the hours are temporary and will be revised.

Absolutely delicious food! Nasi goreng is the best one I’ve ever had. So authentic and not greasy at all ?

My wife and I gave this glowing review not because we are from Indonesia, but simply because this restaurant deserves all the praise. The beef rendang and chicken satay that we ordered were delicious, the caffe latte was great (the coffee came from good-quality coffee beans), and even the 'sweet ice tea' (es teh manis) was refreshing with a tinge of orange aroma. The service was exemplary, with friendly greetings and expeditious food prep where we only had to wait for no more than 5 mins. Even the owner herself (Mrs. Fifi) came and engaged us in a friendly conversation. We don't come to Wellington very often, but whenever we do, we will make sure to dine in Seroja again. A must-visit for sure :)

Nice location. However… The staff was not keen to welcome guests entering the cafe. I saw a few other guests wait a while at the entrance and left because they were un-attended. The cafe was also really cold. Door was wide open with no hint of internal heating. We ordered the Nasi goreng and Soto Ayam. The Nasi goreng was average. The chicken wings and yellow tofu that came with it were unseasoned. The fried rice was OK but not great. I enjoyed the egg and (rice?) crackers. The Soto Ayam was 1/5. The broth had no seasoning - it tasted almost like boiled water. The vermicelli also did not have any flavor. They did also serve a very small side of sambal which was likely the most flavourful item (but did not pack enough heat). There are much better offerings in the coolest little capital!

Stopped in for the first time and will definitely be back. The food was delicious and unpretentious, and the service was friendly and welcoming. You can tell that a lot of love has gone into every part of this restaurant. I understand they offer prix fixe feasts for 6 or more, and looks like they have vegan options as well. Highly recommend.

Nice to have dinner at Seroja, Indonesian food restaurant, taste good but not a cheap price as it's an exclusive dining. You can try the authentic Indonesian cuisine, includes the desserts and beverages. The portion is normal. Customer service was good, the staffs are friendly and helpful. They also have café menus for breakfast or brunch.
