★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I know this place well having grown up in Waimate. Great to see the work that's been done to improve what is already a beautiful pocket of NZ. The native fuchsia are a real highlight. We were lucky enough to witness a dozen bellbirds in the same tree.

Time: 20 min one way
A gentle climb and some steps take you to a viewing platform overlooking the falls. The pipe alongside the track, and at the falls, supplied Waimate’s water from 1915 to 1932 when it was discontinued following a major flood. A short branch off this track leads you to a lookout and seat where you get great views up the valley
Intake Track
Track category: Walking track
Time: 40 min one way
This track goes upstream following Waimate Creek past Rock Pool weir. It crosses the creek several times so be prepared to get your feet wet. The pipe alongside the track and the weir at Rock Pool are the remains of Waimate’s second water supply, which operated between 1926 and 1954.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautiful river walk in pristine native Bush. Easy 10 min or so drive from Waimate township. Try an ice cream from the El Paso dairy on the main street afterward..good size scoops and the lady was very friendly with our kids

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely easy tracks for a short walk. It has a couple of different tracks, one up to a lookout with a bench overlooking the beautiful bush, one up to a waterfall viewing platform and another slightly longer one up the stream to a water intake. Great for most although there are several steps on the the lookout and waterfall options.
