โ โ โ โ โ Great place to have some Indian food in Franz Joseph. The service was great and we had a very good time here. They serve some very good chai (tea) here too.

โ โ โ โ โ Arvin and I are South Eastern cuisine lovers and are here to satisfy our Asian cravings. It's interesting to see such a fusion of Thai, Indian, Singapore and Chinese foods. Very pleasant environment and friendly service. Recommended for a unique Asian experience.

โ โ โ โ โ Pleasantly surprised with the food here. We had chicken in peanut sauce and the tiger fried rice (vegetarian). Both were surprisingly good. $22NZD for each dish. Service was attentive and fast. They also have a happy hour from 5-6 which is $7.50 for craft beers and from 6-7 it's two cocktails for $20. Note that if you ask for the food to be spicy it will actually be spicy- which we were pleased to discover!

โ โ โ โ โ The foods was amazing but the (white) guy with glasses was a different story, didn't ask me for my order or even acknowledge my present. Only interested in my 2 friends (Male and white) order and interest.
Ladies, if you get serve by this guy. Good luck. They are lucky to have 2 stars all because of the other waiters and foods

โ โ โ โ โ Even the restaurant called themselves Indian Thai restaurant. I don't feel anything is authentic Thai. The taste wasn't right, missing herb and spice.
They have Buddhist idol as decoration inside. I'm not against a this (since I'm not Buddhist) but I'm pretty sure that any restaurant has this setup is surely not Thai restaurant since they quite respect those idol for worshipping only.

โ โ โ โ โ We walked around Franz Josef looking at main restaurants for dinner and everything was way over priced or what you get. I understand they have to live, but there are no international tourist here so there fore you have lower your prices for the local market. After being disappointed from the select of places we took a punt on King Tiger. When we arrived we were greeted by the friendly staff, the place was quite empty. We sat down and ordered our food. The pricing here was just right. I ordered the Chilli Chicken and boy it was tasty and spicy. We were so so surprised by this place, it has a nice decor and warm feeling inside. The food was outstanding and the service was spot and friendly. Wanted to come back the following night but sadly they were closed. If you are in the area then check this place for dinner.

โ โ โ โ โ **the food here was very bad. Simply just not good. It was a very bad experience with the food here, I would not recommend coming here. **
Very nice ambience and very nice place. It is a very warm inviting environment.
The seats aren't very comfortable.
The service is lacking but not bad.
The entrees here were decent but not amazing.
The naan bread was awesome! Try the garlic and cheese naan.
The mains were simply not good. Those of my group that ordered meat or chicken complained about taut meat or just not fresh or well cooked in general.
The vegetarian dishes I tried were not that great either.
There are quite a few vegetarian options to choose from.
The drinks are pretty awesome and there's a lot to choose from.
I would have given this place 3 stars, but the price of the food was so expensive but they did not deliver good food.
Our time here began pretty positive but then just got worse and worse mainly because of the less than acceptable food and the lacking service.

โ โ โ โ โ What a surprise! By this stage of our trip, I was dying for some decent Asian food. Everywhere else we had been in NZ had either been average or the reviews were so bad we didn't even dare try it. We were VERY sceptical at first since the menu showed a fusion of Indian, Chinese and Thai cuisines. But it was my birthday and I was desperate so we took a chance.
So glad we did because it was great. My hubby got a Chicken Tikka Masala which he said was the best he's had in years. I got the Tom Yum Soup with Noodles and while I'm not going to say it was the best I've ever had, it certainly hit the spot and the seafood in it was delicious. The Garlic Naan and Thai Crispy Chicken Wings were also very good. Probably give the desserts a skip, they weren't bad or anything but nothing special either. We sat outside on a large bench under the umbrella which was lovely.
We actually came back the next night because they're one of the only restaurants open late. Hubby got the exact same thing and I got the Noodle Soup with Chicken (Tom Yum was better). We also got the Fried Pork, Garlic & Chive Dumplings which were amazing. I'm used to pan fried dumplings but these were delicious. Green Beans were also yum but I wish they didn't cut them up so small, took forever to finish haha.
Service was very good both nights and King Tiger was definitely one of the highlights of our trip in NZ. Don't miss it!
