★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great day out. The day itself was very cloudy so they decided to charge us for the short trip and if things changed they would do the longer trip and charge us afterwards. It was very professional. Lovely friendly staff and the views are incredible!! Highly recommend. A must see when you are on the south island. Best experience of New Zealand.

Event also includes entry to the Glacier Hot Spa. I didn't go it was crowded.
Event includes waterproof gear: jacket, pants, clean socks & boots!! Even a waist bag for your valuables!! Our guide is very experienced with an impressive résumé. All guides must fulfill a strict criteria & undergo intensive training. We had about a 2hrs walk to the glacier valley. Passed by a mini forest & rocky riverbed. The trek ends with a good view of the glacier & hot chocolate! It is totally not safe to walk nearer to the glacier due to frequent rock falls! Locals call it suicide. The riverbed can be tricky if you have not exercised before. You can go on your own hike. However Franz Josef Glacier Guides will educate participants on bush leaves, edibles, secret treks & warn ur to stay away from certain paths due to danger from rock fall. Overall totally worth the cost, experience & of course, the view!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An absolute must do. From the helicopter ride up through the valley, to landing on an unexpected helipad, the awe-inspiring views, and our great guide Josh: can't recommend this enough. On returning there was unfavourably low cloud cover so we were almost stuck overnight, but luckily conditions prevailed and we got an extra hike to a secondary helipad in a pseudo-"rescue mission" - it was awesome! Lawrence and Phil looked after the group during this time and we were in great hands and always felt safe. Not too strenuous a hike so you can really enjoy how beautiful it is up there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Having never seen or stepped foot on a glacier before this was a spectacular new experience for me.
The tour is very well organised and keeps close watch on the fickle weather conditions, which means your tour could be rescheduled/cut short/prolonged with little notice but also means you can rest assured your safety is their utmost priority.
All the gear you need are provided so you could literally rock up in your underwear if you feel so inclined. (That being said please read the info on their website and don't rock up in your underwear just cause I said so.)
As for the experience itself I think the photos will speak for that!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hands down, the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen. My boyfriend and I did this glacier hike on our first day and it was just wonderful from start to finish. We’d gone after a rain storm so it was a bit slow moving as a trail had to be carved, but it was fine because it gave us time to enjoy the views and take loads of photos. Definitely do it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic experience! Our guide Sam was knowlegeable, helpful and super patient and made for a great day. We had fantastic weather and with a temperature of 18 in Franz Joseph, it wasn't too cold on the glacier. If you go just wear a base layer, a long sleeve top, a jumper and the top layer their provide will be enough, unless it's a cloudy day then I'd recommend another top layer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Did the helihike, and it was by far the best thing I have done. Ever!!
It was such an a amazing experience, that I wouldn’t even be able to describe. We weren’t sure at first if we should do it, since it was a bit pricey. But it is without a doubt worth every single penny.
Our guide, John, was so excited about the day that it made it all that more special for us as well.
I couldn’t recommend this experience, and this company enough. You will not regret it.
