About Knead - Artisan Donuts

I am born & raised in Taranaki so have a passion for working with local products, people and produce. My baking journey began as a teenager, I worked in a New Plymouth bakery in the early mornings before school. I continued with baking for 8 years and then had a break to have our two tamariki (Aurora & Kingston) who you will often see in store or popping into a recipe tutorial video !
Our Knead story began in Eltham Taranaki – my partner and I started by juggling fulltime dairy farming, 2 young tamariki & baking once a month out of a small cafe kitchen during the middle of the night and attending a monthly local market in to sell our artisan baked products. As demand grew for more product to be available we made the decision to fit out a commercial kitchen in New Plymouth to call our own. From here we attended markets right around the region and held donut day Friday delivery. Knead was showing no signs of slowing down so we came to the decision to open our very own store front in New Plymouth at 331a Carrington Street . This is where you will now find us with a fantastic team of strong talented wahine making donuts Thursday – Saturday available from 7AM
Knead truly is a small whanau business that has been created and grown around the kaupapa of sharing food with our friends and whanau.
A huge mihi to our Benton & Coutts whanau – for their constant support with Knead, the dairy farm and help with our tamariki we couldn’t do what we do without you all.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The most delicious donuts in the whole of Aoteoroa, fresh and yummy hand made different flavors. Great staff and service.
Highly recommend these donuts but I warn that you want any others after tasting these.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worst donuts i've ever had. The donuts themselves were doughy. Only nice thing was the filling. Cinnamon rolls were dreadful too. Like eating big hunks of dry bread. There were flies on them in the window too. I won't be going back and can't believe how they got any good reviews. Absolute waste of good money

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was couple of hours late ??? but got my first taste of the Knead doughnuts and dayum I'm satisfied...it was soooo good....the staff was super friendly..next time I have to be there early...got to try different ones... I would definitely recommend them any day... Go before 10 am?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Delicious, generous doughnuts ! Not too sweet. Fluffy custard inside, not too fatty or sweet. Great tasty baking. I'm in New Plymouth for only a week and so glad I didn't miss out on these. 100% recommend !
