β β β β β Nigel and Karen were great hosts at our stopover from Franz Joseph to Nelson. They cooked home food which was great taste and enjoyed home brewed beer too. Both have lots of stories to share and sunset was a bonus from their living room. Nigel helped us with continental breakfast and local tips. Sauna was the best in the night when it was very quiet. Big size room at homestay with ensuite bathroom. Thanks and stop again one day. If you are in this area do one or two local walks such as Truman track and stop at Fox River market on Sunday. β β β β β A lovely spot to stop on the West Coast. Stunning scenery and superb hosts. Everything was well maintained and clean.
Would definitely recommend a walk to the beach and a dip in the hot tub.
Thank you Nigel & Karen itβs evident you both love what you do!

β β β β β Fantastic little place. A short 5 min walk to the beach. Great sunsets on a gorgeous sandy beach. There wasnβt a single person to be found on the beach. We had the house dog escort us on our walk. The place was very comfortable with all the necessities. We cooked a nice meal in the kitchen as we enjoyed the the last bits of sun set into the horizon. The bed was comfortable and the area was very quiet. There was a hot tub but we didnβt utilize the amenity.

β β β β β You wonβt get the room youβve booked and paid for!! Booked via booking.com, the host, Nigel, rang and asked me to cancel my booking as he canβt effort booking.com commission so I did as I felt for him! When we arrived with our little baby, with an absolutely rude, racist and offensive language , Instead of the room we have booked for the new year eve with balcony and sea view to enjoy the sunset , he gave us a room attached to his barn with no view, balcony & a portable toilet with constant disgusting smell ? due to holiday season couldnβt go somewhere else and had to stay! He made the worst new year ever for us and our new born baby!

β β β β β When arrived met by nervous caretaker who appeared embarrassed about the accommodation. Room was pretty much a shed damp and uninviting. We were told when we arrive at 4pm we only had until 6pm to use hot pool/spa that didn't work out as we were starving and wanted to eat. The bed was like out of a budget horror movie springs poking through and the pillows were so thin and flimsy. The toilet was a chemical one that didn't flush. The breakfast was old dry cereal in jars a carton of long life milk and a toaster with no bread... the coffee was a clump of old coffee in a Jar unusable. I know it was cheap but that was not worth even $100. My advice use my money to get a second hand pillow top mattress. Take away offering breakfast and use the money to just have tea coffee sachets and decent milk. Take out the toaster it haunts you when there is no bread or no shop in town. . .
