About Koru Vets
Jörg who hails from Germany experienced what life and work is like in a few different countries before finally settling in the best place in the world – Tauranga in New Zealand. Jörg gained his veterinary degree at the over 200 years old Berlin Vet School, Alexander von Humboldt in 1995 during which time he completed 3 and 4 months internships in Paris and New York City. He worked his first year in Germany, then one year in Spain, having to communicate in Spanish. He then moved to the UK where he worked for the next 10 years. There he developed a special interest in orthopaedics and undertook some further training. In 2000 and 2001 he was running an internal orthopaedic referral service for the London branches of a large corporate practice. In 2001 he moved to Cornwall where he developed an animal charity from scratch, called Cornwall Animal Hospital. In 2004 he set up his own three-centre clinic with a purpose-built hospital as the hub in Cornwall (St Clement Vets in Truro). In 2008 Jörg decided to sell up and move to Tauranga, New Zealand in order to embrace the great New Zealand lifestyle. After re-sitting his exams for the NZ Vet Council – Jörg started a mobile vet service in 2010, using an Ambulance to provide a complete surgical and diagnostic service. In 2011 he purpose-built and opened the Mount Vet Hospital as he was missing to utilise his surgical skills in orthopaedics and advanced soft tissue surgery. In 2018 a second purpose built clinic was opened in Tauriko and both clinics are now called KORUVETS.
Jörg loves the NZ outdoor lifestyle and spends a lot of time exploring nature and loves sports such as mountain biking and is obsessed with snow and water skiing. He owns Abbi the Staffi and Minni Magic the cat, both are rescue animals.

From the late night emergency call we made where they raced to help us save our precious cat, to the amazing care and support they gave us as they nursed our Gary. We don't believe Gary would be still with us today without having rung Koru vets. Highly recommend to anyone looking for caring vets. Thanks to all the team members for their part in saving our boy.

The team are always very calm, patience and caring, and provide options and professional advice clearly so we understand. And best of all, our dog who was originally really quite nervous, loves visiting Koru Vets (even when sick or injured) which is a testament to the way the team treat their four legged patients.

Friendly and approachable. Appreciated that you were open on a Sunday.
Brought in our 9 week old puppy (Artemis) in with an upset tummy. Established that she did not have a temperature, but was slightly dehydrated. We left her in your care for the day, to complete re-hydration therapy only.
Although we did sign a permission form to allow you to provide additional treatments if necessary, we would have appreciated a phone call before you threw in an x-ray @ $165.00. (In hindsight, this decision left us and our puppy, open and vulnerable without consultation.)
Would suggest more transparency around your fees/costs as the bill was very expensive, compared to other emergency vets we have taken our other pets to, with similar ailments.

Fantastic surgeon - performed a very difficult operation and he alongside the other wonderful vets, saved my beautiful cat's life - unbelievably Hercules is able to walk again and is flourishing. The nurses were super lovely too! I would recommend to anyone and happy to talk personally about our experience. Thank you all.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I took our puppy to Koru Vets in Tauriko on a Sunday after she was injured in an accident, I was charged over $1256.16 even though the Vet said there were no broken bones or serious injury. I took her to another vet for a second opinion.. it turns out she had a broken pelvis. The second vet charge around $300 for X-rays and diagnosis. I believe Koru vets are greedy and in this case mis diagnosed my puppies injuries. Will be heading to the dispute tribunal unless reimbursed.

We drive away knowing they are getting the best care and attention possible from the lovely staff there which makes leaving them easier. We get regular emailed photos while we are away of them which is always so appreciated and makes our day.
