★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A unique public garden area in a volcanic stone quarry with excellent views and nice seating areas. We wish the plants were labeled and the Lions' predilection for using it as a memorial for their deceased members is a little off-putting, but it is still worth a look. Look out for wasp nests, and be careful at night- we have noticed a few dodgy lurkers while walking pm.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lovely garden to visit on the hill above the main street of Port Chalmers. An old stone quarry has been transformed into a beautiful large Rhododendron Dell with paths, seats and tables and a high lookout for views over the ain street and Harbour.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Came here during fall, had some nice autumn colours too. Would expect it to be more pretty during spring as rhododendrons would flower then. Has a good view of the port from the viewing point.
