★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Have driven past this place so many time, I finally decided to go down and have a look. You can get some great photos here. Even when there is low water flow, the power you can feel is unreal. There are walking tracks that lead around as an easy party, or you can mountain goat it from the top.
Just be safe, don't lean over too far, powerful water flows.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just after the turnoff from State Highway 6 into Lake Hāwea turn left for some spectacular lake views with interpretation panels about the lake’s important role in hydro generation and the Hāwea War Memorial. Great photo opportunity and well worth the quick detour off the highway.
