β β β β β When it comes to gorgeous, family run establishments (and all of the charm that comes with them) the Lake Karapiro Lodge is no exception!
We found the lodge on Maps and researched around to see 1) if there was anything else like it and 2) if there was a "better deal" out there... We're happy to report "Nah!", To both!
We'd been searching the area since we had a concert over in Hamilton and wanted to know what else was around before our road trip back up to Auckland... Found Lake District Adventures (another MUST DO! in the area) and while "floating around" maps, came across LKL.
I tried looking at other places and finding "better deals" but the views from the LKL suites were unlike anything we'd seen and had to book, directly on their site, + added the hearty home-made breakfast package.
The views were stunning, Eddie & Ann (+ their family and 2 cats) were awesome and welcoming!, the food was great, the comfort of the room was exactly what we needed and we wouldn't have traded the experience for anything!
Eddie even suggested we call Lake District to see if they'd send us a shuttle since driving opposite was intimidating (+at night on the windy hills) and they did -- just all the small things that make the hospitality so genuine!
Awesome stay (even though it was only a day?) and we definitely recommend! Thanks for the great experience!

β β β β β This place is fantastic. Anne and Eddie are the most gracious hosts ever. They fed us the most amazingly, delicious feasts. Hubby and I were lucky enough to have this gorgeous place to ourselves and we had a great time talking to Eddie and Anne. This was our first time staying and a bed and breakfast and it was the best experience ever. Keep in mind that this place run by this couple, not a staff of people so if the place is full you may not get the complete one on one experience that my husband and I were fortunate enough to get. I can guarantee that you will love the house, the hospitality and the views are spectacular. This kind of place is not for everyone so keep in mind that this is someones home, it not a hotel. Personally my husband and I can't wait to go back. If you are looking for a new experience this places is a great place to visit. I highly suggest getting the food as well, she is an amazing cook. :)

β β β β β We stayed in the Versace room. A spacious beautifully decorated room with stunning views and a sunset to match. The lodge is in a great location close to many activities. The hosts Eddie and Ann are amazing, cooking a fabulous breakfast and organising anything you want. If you want a real treat stay for dinner, it would rival any 5 star restaurant.
A wonderful experience created by a wonderful couple, we would not hesitate to return.

β β β β β The lodge is beautifully decorated in and out.
The building looks like a heritage style house featuring lots of wood throughout, floors, trim, doors, and mostly all the furniture.
Cutlery, cups and plates contained beautiful details.
Overall a homely feel.
The reading room contained tea and coffee making facilities where you'll need to go if you wish to make a cup of tea or coffee.
The reading room is a comfortable area to sit or have a drink.
The lake view room is spacious with a spacious bathroom. I like the details of the window and the door that opens out to the patio. Overall, it is pleasant.
The ability to make a coffee in the room would have been favourable, but using the reading room was still very much okay. For longer stays and for those who depend on coffee to function, might become a little tedious.
The cat Acacia was lovely. Enjoyed being curled up on our laps.
Parking was okay - we ended up not parking in a designated spot due to no availability.

β β β β β We had a wonderful room with a stunning view and our hosts were lovey. Breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed chatting with Eddie and Anne. It's a credit to them both, their home is a work of art.

β β β β β As we travelled though the North Island we arrived late into Cambridge but could not secure accommodation anywhere. We were recommended Lake Karapiro Lodge and we were so pleased we were. Anne and Eddie were fabulous hosts. We had a wonderful room, beautifully comfortable bed, and in the morning we were greeted with one of Eddieβs great coffees. Anne and Eddie shared their story with us, which I always love to know as peopleβs journey always makes life richer. Highly recommend this wonderful Lodge.
