Beautiful! Easy to get to, and all views are spectacular. My brother decided to take a dive into the water despite it being dusk in Autumn, and said it was much like going swimming in Maine (US). The water is spectacularly clear and you can see so many stars.

Awesome little quiet spot on the side of the road. Went on a mini tiki tour to get a few good shots of our van and the scenery was breathtaking. Aqua marine blue water from the mountain glacier. Never seen water like it before. Awesome!!

Beautiful area! One of my favorite place on the South Island.

We got incredibly lucky to see the wild flowers (Lupines) season in November, so much that we ended up spending upwards of an hour here trying to take it all in.

We see why this would be a magical spot when the lupins are in full bloom. We got to see a few with the stunning backdrop and can only imagine if they were standing tall and more full. Its definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful small town with a population of approx. 400 people. Mt John Observatory, Stargazing at designated dark reserve, hot springs and drove to nearby towns (on way to Christchurch church) is fun. Limited food options in the area though lot of places but with average food. Winters will be more phenomenal when all the peaks are covered with snow and people come down to Ski.

Beautiful spot. I went there late spring so missed the frosts and got some lupins. Water is a wonderful colour and access to the reserve is easy on foot or in a vehicle. Perfect spot for a picnic or an explore. Not many crowds at this time of the year.

Such a lovely location looking over the lake. Bike/walk trails are very narrow & rough in places with no flow. Lack of signage/info on tracks. $1.50 to use a public toilet! Really? We only stayed 1 night here. It was extremely busy over Easter so clearly a popular holiday destination.
