★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful wild beach, great walk from harbor to sandpit and ocean beach. Many seabirds in this area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a beautiful natural coast and wild beach in a quiet end of Ohope, beyond the residential stretch. There are several beach access trails from Harbour Road, and it is an easy walk along the beach to Ohope Spit and Ohiwa Harbour entrance, where you'll find a wind-swept tonic of wildness and pure New Zealand.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a great freedom camping spot. Shame the area is prone to flooding in winter and large area unusable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A quiet grassy spot close to the harbour. Toilets close by. Lovely for bike riding and close enough to pop in to shops. Two nights stay only is the down side. Would have loved to have stayed longer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Walk started off well, but track so badly maintained & overgrown.
Had to push our way through lupins & scrub.
Walked back along beach on ocean side till we got to a signpost for a track back.Once again track vanished & here we went again pushing through gorse, lupins & bracken till we ended up on the golf course.
So if you want to walk out to see the birds I suggest you go back along the track you came in on.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I guess it's a great place. Large free camping area, nice spot for fishing. And I saw the first sunrise in 2022
