★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent place to visit. Views from Whangarei Heads to the Hen and Chickens Islands (these chickens do not have large talons) and Sail Rock. Limited parking so probably a bit difficult to stop at during holidays and weekends, but well worth a midweek visit.

Strict dog walking protocols due to bird life. Beware the odd sandfly near the freshwater outlets.
