Lewis Farms | Taste of the Horowhenua | NZ grown berries - Lewisfarms.co.nz

We package our berries for the supermarket into plastic punnets. These punnets are made from Polyethylene Terephthalate or PET (#1), one of the most straight-forward plastics to recycle in New Zealand. The recycled PET is in high demand from re-manufacturers. Recycled PET is commonly used to make packaging, food and beverage containers, carpets, strapping and polyester fibres for clothing.

We are currently working on an alternative to plastic punnets and we can’t wait to share this with you in the near future! Watch this space as we find a solution that provides both adequate food safety as well as helps to support shelf life of the berries to avoid food waste.

Since we started growing berries, our Packhouse Shop has used molded paper fibre punnets. These can be re-purposed by planting seedlings and then popping the whole punnet directly into the ground to break down around the plants, or can be recycled in your card/paper recycling. Or you can BYO container into the shop!

Not good experience because when my family came there, the staff were not welcoming and rude. Definitely there’s a discrimination going on. You’ll know when you go there.

Glad to see you ask for Vaccine Passes to protect your staff who are especially vulnerable. Good on you.

we were regular customers until we were rudely discriminated against, having the jab is great for most - but not for people with blood clot issues, really disppointed these people are very short sighted, uneducated and heartless, shame on you doing this infront of our young children. SHAME ON YOU.

This place requires customers to have an experimental jab to enter their shop and buy some strawberries, discriminating and disappointing. This is not the kiwi way, could do some effort to be inclusive like some other businesses in the area and offer takeaways...

We used to visit regularly buying strawberries, asparagus and icecreams. Unfortunately we were rudely refused food as this businesses opted into the vaccine passports even though it operates as a takeaway. Thanks for making my children and I cry. Disappointed doesn't even cover it.

Great place and beautiful Strawberries. However I asked for an iced latte (same as regular coffee but iced) and had to pay the same price for an ice coffee with icecream. Did ask the lady why the price isn't same as normal coffee and wasn't given much respect. So extra $2.00 for ice?.not very good service.
