★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Some of the best views you will see in your life. Good facilities and a fire place to dry out. Would be great for a day hike or a good start to a trek if you plan on doing the full Kepler track.

And this was in winter. Heli landed there, and was greeted by the wardens too.
Views were stunning, could imagine the snow during mid to late winter being magical

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ DOC hut with incredible views. Great walk hut so gas and matresses provided. Drinking water available. Many many kea to be spotted! Very minimal but still present risk of bedbugs, though we didn't see any while we were there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After a big hike from the lake it's a welcome site. Flush toilets! Great view up lake Te Anau and caves nearby. It's about a 400m elevation hike up to Mt Luxmore from here - 1070m to 1470m.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Spent the night in May and thoroughly enjoyed it. The views are great and amenities not bad... The warden gave us some wood to stay warm over night. And in the morning there are resident keas who like to have fun on the terrace!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome location, great for exploring the caves, enjoying the mountain views, seeing the stars, and of course a welcome stop while hiking the Kepler track, just keep an eye on your stuff or it'll be kea food.
Big thanks to the DOC team who keep the facilities well maintained and especially to Andrea for keeping us informed and prepared during our stay.
