Macphersons Bulk Bins - Kelvin Grove

I'm definitely going back here for more gardening things! The staff were so lovely and helpful. The soil etc being sold by the trailer load out back looks like a good deal that I can't wait to go for to beautify our garden!

Somewhat bemused by the conduct of staff at MACPHERSONS BULK BINS I observed on Saturday 25 September 2021. I arrived at MACPHERSONS BULK BINS at about 4.00pm with an intention to purchase (forgive me) a mere two or three barrowloads of bark or similar. I noticed there was a ‘Closed’ sign at the gate and a number of people – who appeared to be staff and customers – interacting in the carpark area. I had also noticed that Google indicated a closing time for MACPHERSONS BULK BINS of 4.30pm on Saturdays. Given the above facts and the relatively small quantity of product I was intending to purchase (once again, forgive me), I approached a MACPHERSONS BULK BINS staff member and enquired as to whether it would be too late to pick up a small amount of bark. The ensuing sarcastic, narcissistic and condescending response was unexpected from the MACPHERSONS BULK BINS staff member: “Well what do you think? You’ve just driven through a gateway with a ‘Closed’ sign and then come in here asking that. Can you see this? Can you see what it says?” The MACPHERSONS BULK BINS staff member kindly offered a view of his mobile phone displaying the time of 4.03pm. The staff member continued: “The bark’s over there. You just drive over there. You take as long as you like.” Clearly this man from MACPHERSONS BULK BINS was upset at the fact that our conversation was taking place at 4.03pm, and that I had driven (and I wholeheartedly surrender to thee for this one) through a gateway that had the word ‘Closed’ written near to it. The MACPHERSONS BULK BINS website (macphersons.co.nz) states the following opening hours: Winter/Spring 2021 Weekdays: 8.30ish to 4ish Saturday: 8.30ish to 4ish Sunday: 9.00ish to 4ish “4ish” indicates some degree of flexibility. Perhaps it did not apply on Saturday 25 September as staff moods at 4.03pm were not conducive to it. Or perhaps “4ish” is solely and simply to mandate a closing time earlier than 4.00pm, when staff moods are conducive to that. Do either of these possibilities, or any others, warrant the sarcastic, narcissistic and condescending behaviour of MACPHERSONS BULK BINS staff I witnessed? Either way, MACPHERSONS BULK BINS is obviously thriving and business is booming - despite extensive trading restrictions last year and this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic - and does not need my business, or that of anyone I know, at any time in the future.

Awesome staff and such a wide variety of succulents! I was very surprised by how many they had. The prices were also great. Would definitely recommend!

Great range of garden essentials for bulk orders, price is reasonable too. Very accommodating staff for a Sunday visit. They have cacti too and some succulents, plus some ranges of pots!
