β β β β β Greetings fellow globedwellers, i stayed here for a 5 days stop over but after 3 days booked a extra couple of days, is a lovely back packers place that is dying off and it deserve the 5 star rating in my eye. There is free hot water and rooms are clean and the company of the owner has the local knowlegde. Thanks for a great time .

β β β β β A fantastic place to stay for a relaxing break and to enjoy activities such as fishing, diving, and kayaking. Has a wonderful beach view right out from the rooms and also met great people while staying there!

β β β β β Fantastic bro. Best location and vibe almost at eye level with the sea! Lots of places to chill out and relax.
Good stocked kitchen for cooking with plenty of fridge room.
Nice spring water for everything. Kayaks and walks at low tide around rocks perhaps to the neighboring camping ground shop for an ice cream!
Owner is a true local, accommodating and friendly with a nice no bullshit approach.
Kapai indeed.

β β β β β When we arrived the first thing that sprung to mind was this place looked like a set from "Pirates of the Caribbean". The owner wasn't around when we arrived, the sign outside said "Welcome, find a room and settle in" So we did. The rooms are very basic and clean, there is everything you could need in the big communal kitchen, all you need to do is bring your food. The place has a very very easy going, chilled vibe about it. You can mix and chat with the other guests around the big outdoor fire or you can simply sit quietly on one of the many sofa's dotted around the place and take in the view of the bay.
Its a great area to visit and I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Maraehako Bay Retreat again the next time I'm passing

β β β β β The place is awesome, the beds are cheaped compared to local alternative.
The downside is that you have to bring everything (food, salt&peper, blanket): you'll just get some basics beds and a well equiped kitchen.
Once you know this you cannot hate this place. The view is amazing, you can hire kayaks or paddles (we weren't even charged for it)... Definitly one of my favorite stay of our 3 weeks long vacation.

β β β β β One of my favourite places to stay at in NZ.
Great fishing and snorkelling with wonderful views of the bay and beach as you're basically staying on the beach under huge trees with comfortable, clean rooms and a communal kitchen and bathroom.
The owner is friendly and helpful always and I have no hesitation in recommending this retreat to anyone.

β β β β β I really loved this place ! The owners are very nice, the rooms and bathrooms are simple but sufficient. The kitchen is big and has everything you need. And the location is just perfect!
If you are looking for luxury, go somewhere else but it is the perfect place to go if you want a beautiful, quiete and simple place to spend a few nights.
