★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed in the church at Marama’s Lodge. It was warm, beautiful and super comfortable, wish we could have stayed longer! The attention to detail in this beautiful old church is second to none. The breakfast was generous and delicious. My favourite stay of this whole holiday in Otago. Can not recommend it highly enough!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My sister and I - from Australia and on a road trip in New Zealand - could not find accommodation on the highway to Dunedin, when it was suggested we try the Marama Lodge in Lawrence. What a happy accident! This place is a gem - set in stunning gardens and with a lovely, country feel. The main house is just gorgeous, and our host Dennis showed us through this beautifully restored property.
Our accommodation consisted of a bathroom, kitchen, dining area and lounge with a queen bed in it, plus another room with a queen and two singles. Beds were very comfortable - I had a great night's sleep - and everything you could need including kitchen utensils, magazines, tv etc were provided. Price was very reasonable, too.
Our host Dennis and his wife Marie were most helpful and even offered to make breakfast for us but we had brought our own food.
I loved walking around the gardens, and the little town has several antique shops. We had a lovely drive around the Lawrence area. Marama Lodge is well worth the half an hour drive from the highway to Dunedin, or a stopover if you are coming from Queenstown. I'd highly recommend it to travelers and would definitely stay there again on future visits. Julie and Marianne.
