Only long drop toilets and plenty of sandflys but so beautiful it's worth the stop especially if you're carrying hot water for a cuppa.

Some great walks. The bird life, especially the Robins and the high light was walking along pristine clear riverways full of wild trout

Bare bones but beautiful. You can't go wrong for $8 a night. Be aware that there are plenty of mozzies and wasps so bring your repelant.

The camping spot is ok. Toilets are clean, lots of sandflies (same as most spots!). The walk from there takes you to the most stunning spot! Photo attached, I thought I was in Thailand! Just beautiful.

Toilets, rubbish bins, fire pits and great views. Can camp under the cover of beech forest. Right by the start of the Lake Daniell track and down the road from Maruia Hot Springs. There is tap for water but I think you need to boil it before drinking. Bring insect repellant.

Marble Hill is a peaceful campsite with nice views. A relatively large site, although the top half has more sandflies in summer so the bottom section is in higher demand (still not as bad as many other campsites in the South Island). Probably wouldn't stay longer than one night because of the lack of features, but a very nice one-night stop. The view of the mountains across the meadow is lovely, although it is right off SH7 so you do hear some road noise. There is a very pretty forest right up against the edge of the campsite which provides good shelter from the wind. Facilities are pretty basic with a few long-drops, water taps, fire pits and picnic tables scattered around.

Great spot to stop for lunch. There are mosquitoes so be prepared! The long drop style toilet is fine, had toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Busy place but still managed to find a quiet place to sit. Lots of picnic benches and firebox/BBQs.
