April 2022 - we booked on a whim, staying in one of the pods overlooking the river. Blown away with the service and what was available to us as guests. 24/7 access to the hot pools and saunas, there was a steam room, plunge pool, yoga classes and more included in our stay. Also included was a top-notch dinner and breakfast. We could not have been treated better by staff and it had a really cosy, social vibe with them and the other guests. A very relaxing, healing place. 100% recommend and will visit again.

Loved the indoor Japanese bathhouse, so relaxing! Would've enjoyed the intimate pools outside had there been shade sails as they're currently too exposed to the sun. Guest lounges are a beautiful addition, and views are amazing. Would love to come back in winter!

Had such a lovely stay here. From start to finish we felt at ease. Check in was seamless, the room was beautiful and the pools were absolutely what the doctor ordered. This is not an inner city hotel and people should not expect that it is. If nature and peace is what you are after, Maruia is most definitely worth a visit.

I stayed here overnight as part of a solo cycling/camping trip from Christchurch-Nelson in early January 2022. I booked a tent site at the Maruia Hot Springs weeks in advance, which was expensive at $70, but included entry to the hot pools over two days, so I figured it would be a nice relaxing stop after a long day of cycling through the Lewis Pass. Unfortunately, when I arrived around 5pm, the only remaining camp spot (there are about 3 sites designated for tents) was on an pretty extreme angle - too steep to pitch any sort of tent. I spoke to the staff at reception was told that I could pitch a tent somewhere else around the property, eventually I found a spot, but it was very boggy and swarming with bugs. At this point it was getting dark and I was just too exhausted to find anything else so I pitched for the night. If I did the trip again, I might stop at the Hot Springs for a dip or a meal but I wouldn't be camping here again. Next time I would probably camp at Deer Valley campsite or Marble Hill, which are on either sides of the pass and are DOC campsites, cheap but well maintained and with basic facilitates. On the plus side, the pools themselves were very good, water was relaxing and facilities were clean and tidy. Restaurant/cafe was great too. Staff were really helpful. But at the end of the day, the management just shouldn't be listing tent sites for $70/night that aren't really fit for purpose.

A really beautiful retreat from the world and we really enjoyed our stay. However it was a little more on the pricey side then what we thought it was worth. There wasn't very good signage around the complex so we struggled to find the pools and when we did find the indoor pool it turned out it was broken. It would have been nice if on check in they would have told us that some of the pools were out of use. The outdoor pools were very nice and the views were spectacular.

We were very excited after a long trek to recover in the natural hot springs and stay in the glamping pods. The setting was stunning, accommodation was lovely and new. However the pool facilities, especially the changing rooms were filthy and serious maintenance was required around the property. A deep clean and tidy up would bring this place back to glory.

Perfect place to unwind and relax. The wellness schedule is particularly impressive with all the activities included in the room rate. I loved the yoga classes, sauna infusion and nature walk. The staff are lovely and the food is delicious with lots of healthy options.

We visited the pools one night (didn't stay at the accommodation) and it was well worth it. The pools are lovely and relaxing. Bathroom, changing facilities were clean, spacious with showers, toilets and changing areas. We booked online, so on arrival it was a very easy process.
