★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We love Matakana coffee and have often gone out of our way to go to the market to get a bag of beans and some takeaway coffees. We had high expectations for the cafe and we were super disappointed. The milk was overly foamy and did not taste nice and shot tasted over extracted. Nowhere near the quality you can get at the market.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Matakana Coffee is now the only coffee we will buy for plunger and espresso at home, we put it in reusable nespresso pods although I see they now have it in pods too! So glad to have this local roastery!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a great spot for a coffee and a bite to eat. The coffee is amazing, so much so that I always take some with me when I am overseas for work and often buy a case to keep me going. The breakfast burrito is a favourite and the other menu items I've tried have been amazing!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A great location overlooking the market but sadly let down by poor coffee and a rather aggressive member of staff. We were trying to enjoy our tasteless coffees under an umbrella when an elderly staff member rather abruptly took down the umbrella which hit my partner on the head. He then walked off without apologising and informed other seated customers the cafe was closed! The other customers were equally shocked by this behaviour. So rude and completely lacking any sense of customer service. Avoid.

Not only is Matakana Coffee Roasters a great spot to go relax, drink good coffee and eat yummy food there in the village, it is absolutely our stable plunger mix for home. every time we try something different we end up straight back to MCR! 10/10

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome new location, very cool and looks great. Shame coffee didn’t live up to expectation. Went in new premises for two small flat whites for my wife and I to take away, both really milky and couldn’t drink them. I always worry when the barista asks if you want an extra shot - shouldn’t need it for a small coffee. Back to Ravish which is consistently good.
