★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Asked an unnecessary amount of questions to a simple request, with a couple of significant delays (3-5 days) in between. After 2 weeks wasted with to and fro they didn't have an appointment for 3 weeks. Their quoted prices were high with only part of the services they would quote (they gave themselves an opening for even more charges). Altogether a frustrating experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Both my girls have needed braces, one of them requiring plates for a large overbite for 2 years before hand as well.
Matt and the team were recommended by multiple people as well as our dentist so we gave him a go and we are so glad we did.
Every staff member we interacted with were amazing, Victoria on reception, the multiple Dental assistants and Matt himself knew exactly how to talk to both the teenagers and us parents.
Yip, it's pricey but there's no hidden costs, you can go back for checks and breaks as many times as you need (I think over 2.5 years my daughter broke enough brackets to replace her braces twice) and there's no extra cost.
The results speak for themselves, both girls have been braces free for over a year and their teeth look as perfect as ever.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had our initial consultation with Matt and he was extremely clear and thorough with what to expect with the treatment plan. I have received comprehensive and efficient communication with everything discussed. He has a great manner with dealing with teenage boys!

Matt Barker put me through a 5 year treatment plan, which would of ended up being 7 years, but my gums were about to burst so they came off early and all without my informed consent. He knew my teeth disobeyed the laws of orthodontics, yet instead of taking the braces off, he gave me ultimatum for extractions with an “agree or leave”, while I’m still being completely unaware of the time extension and risks associated with extractions. He is rude, dismissive of comments and noted none of my concerns in the treatment notes. He was aware I had an allergy to the braces, yet ignored this even though it is a clear risk stipulated in the treatment plan and NZAO pamphlets. He stepped completely outside the treatment plan from the beginning and took “straightening teeth” to mean he can do whatever he wants without the knowledge or informed consent of the patient. I was only aware of what happened once the braces came off to see how he the treatment changed everything, including changing my facial shape and saw all the notes. He got measurements wrong, made up measurements in a email to a colleague who he sought an opinion from, which did not even exist in the patient notes. It’s endless. This is just a slither of what went on. I walked in as a healthy young woman, and walked out lost, confused, traumatised and sick. Stay away from this practise at all costs.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I highly recommend Matt Barker! My 18 year old son now has the most beautiful teeth and I am amazed at how such crooked bottom teeth ended up so perfect with Matt's skill and expertise. My 15 year old daughter currently has braces and again I am wowed by how quickly her teeth have realigned. My 11 year old son is next! Matt has such a great manner and makes it an enjoyable experience for both the teenagers and parents alike. It is not a traumatic experience for children when you have lovely Victoria greeting you at Reception. She is so friendly and a whizz at fitting you in when Matt is so busy. I am in awe at how she managed to reschedule everyone after two Covid-19 lockdowns! Matt's assistants are also wonderful. Matt has the patience of a saint, dealing with my 18 year old, and Matt's humour and kindness allays any feelings of fear regarding having braces. I am truly grateful for his incredible work and for the fun and professional way he has treated all three of my children! Thanks Matt and your wonderful team!

From the start of treatment to the finish we have been extremely happy with the service from MBO. Three of our children required braces and we are 100% happy with the outcome. Matt is thorough, explains everything about treatment and care, provides post braces care and follow up appointments to ensure everything is as it should be. Appointments are convenient, easy to change if required and he was brilliant at keeping us informed of progress throughout the treatment. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Matt. Couldn’t be happier with the results!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I can't recommend Matt highly enough for orthodontic treatments. My eldest daughter Alex has just completed her treatment and is over the moon with the way her teeth look. Matt and his team are all very professional and have a great system in place for appointments and check ups. You can also rely on Matt for honest feedback when your child doesn't need braces - he's very open and won't suggest braces when they're not needed just to give someone "perfect" teeth. Thanks Matt and the team at MBO :-)
