McLaren Falls Park - McLaren Falls Park 190 McLaren Falls Road

It was an OK easy walk. There were many tracks to do which is only 10mins at most. We parked at the waterfall car and started on the right hand side of the track is 10mins to the waterfall which takes you to a loop which we did and ended up where we started before continuing back onto the waterfall track and taking the Nikau track. And on that track is going up hill which is 10mins and takes you to Ponga grove track on the left or Pin Oak flat on the right. Which we did Pin Oak flat for 10mins on grass. And walked on road which takes you to pine tree knoll track which we did not do. So continued onto top flat road leading to rimu / totara track. As we wanted to visit the 3sisters rimu tree, which is over on the other end of mclaren Park. We then walked past the lakeside view track, and pasted the sunrise track, which we could see a set of steps leading up hill somewhere and that to is also 10min walk. Continued walking past the lakeside view track and on the road for about 10 or 15min walk up hill till you reach Rimu Totara Track. With that is where the 3sisters rimu tree is which takes you to a loop for 20mins and on that walk you're going up hill a few set of stairs and that's 10mins or so from there you're walking on flat surface or so, from there there's no sign where to go as there was 2tracks on the loop which got us confused so we stayed on the loop walking on grass and you'll come across a portaloo for boys and girl's and continued walking back into the forest, around loop and back to the beginning. So that was very disappointing and upsetting as we walked so far only to see nothing but native tree's on that loop. Then walking back down hill we jumped onto the lakeside view track which is 40mins at the start going down hill and with a view of the lake and stopped somewhere in the middle for a snack as there are benches along the way to sit and relax. Then we proceeded so go onto Hamilton Point / cherry Bay / no exit sign on road going slight up hill. Then headed onto either pin Oak exit or rotary Grove no exit sign. Which we took pin Oak exit slight uphill and back onto pin Oak flat, up hill to nikau track and downhill to waterfall track and back to the carpark. There is plenty of car parks and good toilets provided along with lots of picnic spots, bbq areas around the park.

Such a pretty spot. Would be awesome to camp here. The walk to the waterfall was quick and easy and theres so many places for picnics and activities like kayaking and swimming

Beautiful place. Lovely scenery and views. You can definitely get lost (in a good way) in the park with all the great walks and roads.

Last year I camped here for 2 nights. Wonderful place for camping and short walk. I enjoyed a lot in the nature and beautiful lake scene.

Great rural park in the Bay Of Plenty side of the kaimai ranges. Amenties include the lake, perfect swimming, canoe, kayaking on. A cafe, an information center, an animal farm where petting the animals is encouraged. Barbecue and amenities blocks, several camp grounds. Waterfall and glow worms if you visit after dark.

I love this place for its beauty, peace (on a week day) and space. Have done some of the many walks, both easy and more challenging (for an old, unfit me) and loved the one to the Waterfall. Have had picnics, fed ducks, sat and daydreamed, walked, eaten and enjoyed every one of them

I love the waterfalls but my family enjoyed the walk and the scenes much more.. The area is well shaded with trees so you could go for a walk there at any time during the day just get your insect repellent spray in hand. There are nice areas for picnic and grills for BBQ. Toilets are available and clean except the ones that are very close to the waterfalls were very dirty with sh*** in the basin!!! I forgot to mention that the walk tra k is suitable for families with baby pram until you reach the falls, there are steep stairs and it is difficult to continue the road with the pram

Some of natures best is on offering here. The camp grounds are still closed, but we were really just after a walk around, and this place was perfect. We went on the Waterfall Track, and the bush gets very thick and dense, you really get that whiff of fresh forest air, it’s so refreshing. The walking track itself is also very easy, 20 min loop, we did it with small toddler, very walkable. There is a car park at the entrance and also public toilets. Very cool walk, lots to see and honestly some of the best native trees I’ve seen.
