About Mission Bay Clock Totem
Bike, walk or scoot round the city and discover the amazing Whale Tales Art Trail.
From 24 January to 18 April, a trail of 80 whale tail sculptures, designed by artists and children, will bring excitement and creativity to the streets, parks, and cycleways of Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland.
These sculptures will raise awareness of the vital work WWF-New Zealand is doing to look after our ocean and sea life, including the nationally critical species, the Bryde's Whale. There are only 135 Bryde's Whales still remaining.
WWF-New Zealand has partnered with Wild in Art, Auckland Unlimited and Harcourts NZ to produce the trail for the city of sails. Many businesses are also sponsoring specific trails. AT is supporting the cause by sponsoring two whale tails, pictured on this page, 'Fabric of Nature' and 'Mailap Man ay Nariyan ang Diwata ng Karagatan' (Elusive but Ever Present are the Spirits of the Seas). Click on the artwork titles for more information.
At the close of the Art Trail, the tails will be auctioned off to raise money for the crucial work WWF-New Zealand is doing for the Bryde's Whale in the Hauraki Gulf.
