★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went into Motor Works to get a dying lightbulb replaced. I was met by Craig at the front desk who said he would get one of his guys to look at it, and that it would either be $45 if it was a basic bulb, or a couple of hundred for a fancier bulb. He said that he would take a look at it first. After a bit of time, he came back and said that it might take a little bit of time as the last person who put the bulb in appeared to have screwed it tightly in and bent a bit of the metal in the process. He offered me a loaner car so that I could get on with my day and he would ring me when it was ready. I asked him then, "so just confirming its the $45 bulb?". He replied, "Yep, it's the $45 bulb". I left and about an hour and a half later he called to say it was ready and that it was going to cost $220 with the labour. I told him that there was no way that I was going to pay this amount and that he should have been up front with me at the start as I was expecting $45. He said that he has to charge for an hour and a half of labour because that's how long it took to change the bulb, and that he assumed when he was telling me that I would have understood this. I continued to put up a fight, saying that it seemed ridiculous that it took someone a full hour and a half of labour to take a light bulb out, and that because he wasn't clear about the cost at the start that I wasn't going to pay. He said he would see what he can do and would ring me back shortly. A few minutes later he rung back and said "ok how about $140?" I again stated how crazy this was. He then yelled at me down the phone and said, "Fine then! Let's just do $45 and be done with it!" and then he hung up. I was personally incredibly shocked and disgusted that Motor Works could ethically try and charge $220 to change a basic light bulb and it concerns me that this kind of thing could be happening to vulnerable people who are too afraid or ignorant about cars to put up a fight.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worse service ever. I left my friend's car for the door handle repair and the mechanic lost the door lock covers near the knob. Later I found two more missing from that door. The owner was quite interested to help when I called straight away but when I saw him next week then he completely turned back on me saying he can't prove it was there. I offered to find the parts even if I have to pay for it. 6 weeks passed by and there was no response apart from we might need to replace the whole door for this. I followed up every week to find out what is happening and it is pretty much evident that nothing was being done. I managed to get the parts myself through Pick a Part in Auckland shipped to me yet the owner did not had the courtesy to look at the part to find it is the correct one. It was not even a 20 second meetup that was requierd yet he asked me to come next week. I managed to get it corrected as it should be myself but the tip for anyone leaving their cars there - Take photos of every part of the car when you leave it there, possibly the other side as well who knows. Even after that they can decline it saying it is not the original photo which comes down to the part of - integrity, which is why one of my friends highly recommended me to go to this workshop but unfortunately it gave me the worse experience ever.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was recommended to go to Motor Works for my WOF. I am so glad I did, the service was great, quick and simple. A loan car was offered but I enjoyed the café within short walking distance. At pickup my car was ready to go with a smile and a thanks. Will be back for our next service ???

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have always had good service from Motorworks, so when my car battery was on the way out this morning I drove straight to Motorworks, with lights flashing and beeping at me all the way. I was pretty frazzled because I was worried my car would conk out at an intersection! The team there were so great, they looked at it right away for me, and had a new battery in it within a couple of hours. They even offered me a loan car while they worked on mine. I was so so grateful that they had me up and running so quickly, and they were so nice about it.

On arrival I Was met with friendly and very welcoming staff.
Motor works is a family business which is Kiwi owned and operated.
I cannot fault the service provided as everything they could do to help out was provided.
Professional, efficient and informative Motorworks is a business I would recommend you consider using.
Called in again recently with battery problems. They were great and fixed on the spot. This was appreciated.
